Whores And Hirelings

Germany's church failed this test almost 100 years ago. Let's not repeat their mistakes

Are today’s ‘leaders’ stepping up with the courage and boldness required to take on today’s issues? Or are they happy to cash their check and stick their heads in the sand?

It’s only natural that a broken and corrupt world will find new and creative ways to destroy itself. It’s the Christian’s job to show them another way.

If a ship crashed on the shoals because a lighthouse keeper didn’t bother to keep the light going, we’d want his head on a plate. So, shouldn’t a price be paid when society crashes on the rocks because the light goes out in the pulpit?

We’ve got a presidential ticket whose anti-gospel priorities and attitudes makes Obama’s term look like a choirboy in comparison.

Half-mad with glee in her support of abortion. Protecting criminals over citizens, and whose supporters in the DNC called the Constitution ‘that piece of paper’, while calling for a ‘reimagining’ of rights. Her veep choice prioritized the right of the state to help little Johnny become little Jane (medically!) — even if they came from out of state — even over the parent’s right to object.

Have pastors forgotten how the State decided it had a right to shut down churches and keep them closed?

With the media doing a better job than Pravda at pushing the Commie Candidate, have pastors spoken up? Are we hearing any of that coming from the pulpit these days so that Christians can make an informed decision come November?

Or are they trusting empty promises that it ‘won’t be so bad’… just like the Church did at other critical moments of history when a rogue government was taking its country into an abyss?

It’s time to separate the whores and hirelings just showing up for the paycheck from the faithful servants of Almighty God.

As a ‘call to action’ — prayer and fasting came up a lot during this interview. If you want something with more teeth than ‘now I lay me down to sleep’… something that biblical heroes from David to the Apostles relied on when they were neck-deep in it, we’ve got great examples in the psalms that are tailor-made for situations just like this one.

Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed, or sung in church against our formidable enemies — and therein lies the Church’s problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.

Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.

This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
