We all know that *one* guy who acts like he’s doing the world a favor just by showing up.
Maybe he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. Or God’s gift to women. Or the world’s best fisherman. And he just can’t stop talking about himself.
It’s easy to roll our eyes when *that* guy does it. But have you ever asked yourself if *that guy* might be *you*? There’s a reason that so many of Jesus harshest warnings were to the ‘my-poop-don’t-stink’ hoity-toity religious crowd.
If we’re going to really get a solid appreciation of just how good God’s promise is for us, and how secure we are in them, we need a proper diagnosis of where it is we came from.
It’s like that parable Jesus gave about the two people who were forgiven debts. ‘The one who was forgiven more’ will love the master more. If that love is lukewarm, the best way to fix it would be to revisit just how many ‘zeroes’ were in that debt that master cancelled on our behalf.
Buckle up for this one. And some of the more buttoned-down religious types just might want to wear a cup.
