I never thought I’d want to quote Barack Hussein Obama, but yes, elections do have consequences. And we won, by a lot. Thank you, Jesus.
Nonetheless, while we deserve to gloat, the realization is that we’ve won a battle. We have not won the entire war, not by a long shot. You know the Left (i.e. Socialists/progressives, Communists/Democrats/etc.) are going to regroup and come at us with everything they have. Until then, we need to not let our guard down.
I haven’t done a column recently because of eye surgery I needed to have. While reading was out of the question for a few weeks, I did listen to a lot of material online. I say “listen” because I was told to also limit my screen time. Listening to, and eventually getting to view some of the plethora of lib melt down videos is glorious. What’s amazing is they haven’t stopped. If you’re not familiar with the German word schadenfreude (pronounced SHAA-duhn-froy-duh), you should be. We’ve earned the right to indulge ourselves in its concept.
When you see some of the people in these aforementioned videos, you can understand why we have yet to win the entire war. The ones sitting in their cars making videos of themselves shrieking incoherently into their phones are not who we need to worry about, though. Granted, this does provide a lot of entertainment value, but they’re easily spotted, can be avoided, or summarily dealt with legally if they get out of control.
Truth is, while these folks are loud and obnoxious, they have no real power. They’re not in office or in other positions of power. They don’t make policy; just loud childish tantrums.
This is why we’ve only won the first of many battles. The “deep state” lives on.
However, with some of the initial proposals President Trump and his team have made public so far, it looks like his administration is planning on hitting the ground running. It’s been mentioned that the idea of terms limit for Congress will be address again. The American people definitely support this.
One brilliant move is the creation of the Department Of Government Efficiency or DOGE. The days might be numbered for a lot of the “alphabet agencies”….the big ones like DOJ, FBI, CDC, etc., and even obscure agencies few Americans know about.
From my personal viewpoint, I’d like to see the following happen, or at the very least taken into serious consideration:
- 25 year moratorium on ALL foreign aide; extended another 25 in 5 year increments.
- 25 year moratorium on ALL immigration, legal and illegal. Same type of extension as foreign aide if needed.
- Make SCOTUS number of Justices officially 9. There is no specific number listed in the Constitution. We should keep it the way it is now.
- Common sense bills. No more 1000+ page bills that no one has the time to read. Bills should be no more than 25 pages in length. If we have to, even specify the font size, spacing and margins. Bills should only have no more than 5 amendments, which can only be applicable to the Bill’s topic. There should be some way to ensure that every member of Congress has actually read the bill before a vote is called.
- National sales tax. We are 36 TRILLION in debt. That’s inconceivable, let alone unsustainable. Since the Left loves to “tax the rich”, here is the proposal: 1% sales tax on all transactions up to 100K; 2% tax on transactions of 101K up to 500K; 3% tax on all transactions past 501K. The rich would of course pay more under this system, with the lower income brackets not paying that much until buying property that would put them into the 2% bracket. It should also be codified into law the funds gathered through this system can only be used to pay down the debt and not touched for any other reason.
It’s obvious that some of these proposals would require amending the Constitution. Especially, limiting the number of SCOTUS judges, but we’ve seen how necessary that would be because of the Left’s continued desire to “pack the court”. It’s never too late for a Convention Of States, even with President Trump back in office.
In conclusion…
The anti-American Left will never give up. If they ever get poser again, they will hurt us. They’ve told us so, and we need to believe them. It’s past time for Christians to stop playing church, and be The Church. Real evil exists and we’ll have to deal with it whether we want to or not. Negotiating with evil always turns out badly. (Neville Chamberlain, anyone….?) David didn’t negotiate with Goliath.
What would Jesus do? Jesus was of the linage of King David (Luke 3:23-32), so He had the human DNA of a warrior king. Christ’s own words on recognizing evil are found in MT. 7:20 “By their fruits shall ye know them.”
Ask yourself this: what “fruits” did the Left try to sell us for the last four years?
