OOPS: Party Of ‘Working Class’ Just Outed For Leaving Their Own Employees High And Dry

For a party that pretends to represent ‘main street and not Wall Street’, the way they treat their own employees seems to say exactly the opposite.

When it came to hobnobbing with Hollywood A-listers, they were ready to spend top dollar to get big names of people with big followings to show up. But, like so many other aspects of life, it’s how the treat the ‘little people’ that shows the world who you really are:

And the newly-disgruntled staff at the DNC have a LOT to say about how that political party treats their ‘little people’. Remember how Biden bragged about how Democrats are the greatest friends a union could possibly have? Joe’s street cred with unions was a big part of the coalition he had cobbled together, right?

Alanis Morrissette, whose home-stretch endorsement/appearance at a Kamala rally was scrubbed because the check wouldn’t clear, could set this next little plot twist to music. ‘Ironic’.

The DNC Staff union has taken to social media to tell the world how the DNC just screwed over their staffers.

What are the specific complaints?

From the text of that tweet:

November 18, 2024 — The Democratic Committee is facing the fallout of callous and short-sighted management by senior leadership. Starting Wednesday night, permanent employees were notified of their termination, effective Friday and with no severance pay. DNC leadership refuses to disclose to the DNC staff Union the full extent of these layoffs and whether additional cuts are planned.

These cuts go far beyond typical campaign turnover and impact employees who were previously told their positions would be retained after the election. Chair Jamie Harrison and Executive Director Sam Cornale refuse to address their staff face to face and have offered no explanation for how these cuts were decided.

Despite record-breaking fundraising, the DNC failed to provide any financial support to those who have tirelessly served the Democratic Party and its mission. Unlike the Harris-Waltz campaign, which provided three weeks of severance to its staff, the DNC’s senior leadership has chosen to leave loyal staff scrambling to cover rent, medical expenses, and childcare costs.

Among those now facing financial uncertainty are workers expecting new children and single parents who have dedicated their lives to our party. Scores of experienced staff, some who have been here as many as four decades, will see their institutional knowledge vanish overnight due to this rushed mass layoff. The individuals whose decisions throughout the campaign created this situation remain on payroll, while these workers are left with nothing.

The DNC staff is proud of the values that our party stands for. We want to make it clear, however, that the principles we champion on the national stage have been disregarded in our own workplace. The process of regaining the trust of the American people must begin with living our own party’s values. We call on leadership to align the DNC’s actions with our principles by 1) Offering severance to every permanent employee who was laid off, and 2) Addressing your staff honestly and transparently. Only then can we begin to move forward as a party.

There is one problem with that final paragraph which will be glaringly obvious to anyone outside of their party to which party loyalists might be oblivious.  It comes back to the assumptions about ‘own party’s values’. The naivety in that line is precious.

The way the party made big promises about the care and concern they would have for the working people that was completely abandoned when it came time to make good on those promises…? That kind of duplicity IS the party values.

Biden would NEVER have been elected if he was honest about pushing policies even Bernie Sanders wouldn’t have been bold enough to say out loud… but he claimed to run as a centrist who and ‘defeated’ the socialists in his party.

Manchin would NEVER have given his vote for the ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ if he knew this was just a Green New Deal in sheep’s clothing… and wouldn’t do a damn thing to reduce inflation.

If these workers are smart, they will wake up to ask themselves if the way their party brass kissed up to billionaire donors and shoveled money out to A-list celebrities while stiffing their front-line employees says something about the party whose values they THOUGHT they understood.

Who knows…? Some of these political organizers might make the same switch so many other former Democrats have. We may see them knocking on doors and working phone banks for new politicians while wearing the next cycle’s version of a famous red hat.

Disaffected converts, especially ones who have been personally burned, can be unusually persuasive.
