BREAKING: Eleventh-hour SCOTUS Decision On The Future Of TikTok
Sunday the 19th was the day the law was set to be enforced

Biden’s people, not surprisingly, are more than happy to let Trump’s people deal with the implications.
In the four years of Biden’s term, we went from TikTok influencers being brought into the confidence of the White House to pump out videos like this one:

To a bipartisan law being passed to make TikTok go dark on Sunday on account of it being a national security risk.
An emergency appeal went out to SCOTUS so that laws insisting it be disbanded if it is not sold by Sunday January 19th might be stayed. The high court weighed First Amendment implications against the national security rational of the law and has agreed that the laws were not written to directly or indirectly suppress specific content, and as such, the First Amendment does not come into play. Arguments about other companies having similar practices fell outside the scope of their powers to adjudicate.
The final ruling is that the laws will be in force as written, which is not written with the intent of the dissolution of TikTok so much as placing some kind of a firewall between users of this app and malign foreign actors (like China) who would use apps to secretly mine data the users have never consented to giving access to gather.
Joe Biden’s White House has indicated they will be taking no action to enforce this decision so late in his administration.
This will come as a win for Trump who has been pushing for a delay in implementation of this law, because he thinks he can negotiate a sale of the app to an owner the law would find acceptable.
The CEO of TikTok is among the invited guests who will be attending Trump’s inauguration. And Kevin O’Leary (Mr. Wonderful) broke news when he made public that he and a business partner are willing to put up $20B in an offer to purchase the app.
If there’s any deal to be had to keep the app available to all the American users and businesses who have warmed to it, a President whose entire career has consisted of negotiating big-dollar projects might be the one to shepherd this process through to a successful completion.
