Three Executive Actions Trump Did Yesterday That Will Kick A Hornet’s Nest

Crossfire Hurricane is just one of the interesting details

They call it moving at Trump speed. It’s another way to describe rolling up your sleeves and getting (expletive) done. Yesterday moved some more tasks to the ‘finished’ column.

Let’s begin with the one in the video:

CROSSFIRE HURRICANE

Remember how the order on the last day of his first term was never really followed through on?

Trump remembers. And he’s repeating himself for anyone in the back who may have been too slow to get it the first time. He has issued the declassification, ‘one more time’… with FEELing!

Except as provided below, I have determined that all of the materials referenced in the Presidential Memorandum of January 19, 2021 (Declassification of Certain Materials Related to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation), are no longer classified.
[…] Subject to the exceptions identified above, the Attorney General shall make declassified materials described in this memorandum available to the public immediately.

PUTTING A LEASH ON GOVERNMENT FRAUD

With the Government accountability office saying there are hundreds of billions or possibly half a trillion dollars lost to fraud and waste each year, Trump is taking the opposite approach to the Democrats.

Where they would look for ways to fill a leaky bucket with more water, faster. Trump is looking for ways to minimize how much the bucket leaks so we don’t waste what’s in it.

In the case of government coffers, what’s IN it amounts to billions and billions of dollars.

This order promotes financial integrity by enabling the Department of the Treasury to more easily conduct improper payment and fraud prevention screening prior to disbursing funds on behalf of agencies. This order increases transparency and accountability by requiring agencies to provide the Department of the Treasury with the information needed to track transactions through the General Fund in greater detail. This order also promotes operational efficiency by returning disbursing functions to the Department of the Treasury when possible and consolidating and standardizing core Federal financial systems. — White House

And then there’s the one that will have Democrats reaching for their smelling salts:

PRESERVING AND PROTECTING THE INTEGRITY OF AMERICAN ELECTIONS

That’s not just my heading, that’s the title of an Executive Order. And the ‘Defending Democracy’ People are gonna be pissy about this one.

Above all, elections must be honest and worthy of the public trust. That requires voting methods that produce a voter-verifiable paper record allowing voters to efficiently check their votes to protect against fraud or mistake. Election-integrity standards must be modified accordingly.
It is the policy of my Administration to enforce Federal law and to protect the integrity of our election process.

He’s going to be enforcing federal laws guaranteeing electoral transparency, including documentation of identity, evidence of eligibility, ballots received on election day and so forth.

All the sorts of rules that get Democrats spun up about ‘threats to democracy’ have an odd overlap with the very things which, if allowed to remain, would make it easier for a malicious actor to change the outcome of a vote. Surely their committment to their beloved Democracy (it’s right in their name!) is such that they would lock it down as tightly as possible so that they might never again be accused — as JFK and LBJ were — of something so loathesome as rigging election results in their own favor.

If that weren’t enough to get their blood boiling, maybe pulling the Security Clearances of another partisan law firm would do to trick
