AWESOME: Japan Unveils Shiny New Toy That China’s Military Will NOT Like… At ALL!

De-fanging the CCP is STILL a good thing, right?

If it delivers on its processes, it de-fangs one of China’s strongest deterrent threats. America dropped a program researching the same thing during the Biden years.

China has been flexing its strength, not only through the rapid deployment of a massive navy in pursuit of naval superiority, but in the development of missiles they believe will be able to ‘one-shot’ the most powerful ships in the US navy, including the Aircraft Carriers on which so much of the projection of American military strength will depend.

The strategy is to either destroy the American fleet, or deter us from deploying it close enough to Chinese-controlled waters that we could prevent any expansionist plans they have toward gobbling up Taiwan, or (if their ambitions grow the way some predict they will) any of China’s neighbors.

Is it any wonder Japan — a country China has already threatened with nuclear strikes — would take a keen interest in treating China’s threats seriously?

They have now unveiled a tool in their arsenal that can negate the ‘unstoppable’ advantage China boasts of in their hypersonic missiles. A weapon that can take down hypersonic weapons without relying on anything like the missile systems usually associated with defending against missile strikes.

It’s a counter-strike weapon that doesn’t rely on propellant or explosives at all. And you have probably heard it’s name before: the railgun.

Many countries have been trying to perfect the railgun for years. Elegant in simplicity, but not so easy to pull off, Japan has finally worked out the details.

Japan’s navy has unveiled a ship-mounted electromagnetic railgun intended to down incoming Chinese hypersonic missiles.
The large futuristic-looking weapon system was pictured last week undergoing advanced stages of testing on the flight deck of the experimental JS Asuka warship.
[…] The railgun does not require explosives or propellant but relies on electromagnetic energy to launch projectiles at supersonic speeds, providing a cost-effective and quick response to potential fast-moving missile threats.
It fires at higher velocities than regular weaponry, with its ammunition travelling at 2,500 metres per second (m/s), compared to traditional tank guns, which fire shells at speeds of around 1,750 m/s.
Japan’s Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) said that Vice Admiral Omachi Katsushi, the commander of the Self Defense Fleet, had visited the Asuka “to observe the latest status of the railgun, which is under development at the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency”. — Telegraph
