Kidnapped American Missionary Rescued… Abductors Shot Dead By Police

An answer to prayer.

The Tennessee pastor was abducted at gunpoint during a church service while his family and congregation watched. His rescue was an answer to prayer.

His masked captors, now ‘neutralized’, will soon have a hearing in a much higher court.

The men who kidnapped Josh Sullivan from the little missionary church in South Africa where he is a pastor were holding him for ransom. Such ransom attempts are reportedly on the rise in South Africa.

His captors didn’t live long enough to collect on those demands.

Mr Sullivan’s kidnappers had made a ransom demand, prompting the intervention of South Africa’s elite police unit, known as the Hawks.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the Hawks said that Sullivan had been rescued following “verified intelligence wherein a coordinated team… moved swiftly to the identified location”.

Hawks spokesperson Avele Fumba said that as the officers approached the house, the suspects attempted to flee inside a vehicle, while opening fire.

“The officers responded with tactical precision, leading to a high-intensity shootout in which three unidentified suspects were fatally wounded,” Mr Fumba said. — BBC
