Press Tried To Dunk On JD Vance’s Vatican Visit… That Ended Badly

In case anyone still believes in the fable of an 'honest media'... here's ANOTHER example

An American Catholic politician visits the Vatican, how does the ‘news’ cover it? That depends. For a Pelosi or Biden visit, the only thing missing is a hot oil massage. Let a Republican go visit, it’s a whole other story.

When a chance to dunk on the GOP presents itself, they are tripping over themselves to write it up in the most negative light possible.

There was a time when their telling of the story would be written in stone in the public record and that would be the end of the story. But the internet has democratized the news and shown these clowns to be the frauds they are.

JD’s visit to the Vatican is the latest example of the media stepping on this particular rake.

How the hostile press reported the visit

Vice President Vance was met at the vatican by one of the pope’s deputies. How do you suppose that was spun in the press? You already know how it was portrayed.

Good guy Pope snubs bad guy MAGA.

Amazing how the Catholic Church is suddenly the ‘good guy’ when they can be used as a foil against Trump.

The rest of the time, they are slapped with any number of unprintable epithets.

For as long as the pope is seen as agreeing with them on certain political issues, he’s a useful cudgel against Trump. All of the unprintable epithets are set on a shelf and forgotten. (Until they’re not.)

Here is the Irish Star leading the charge in disinformation. The content has bias, the headline is absolute disinformation.

The content:

JD Vance was delivered a “lecture on compassion” by Pietro Paroline, Pope Francis’ second-in-command this weekend, while many expected to meet with Francis himself.

Vance, who converted to Catholicism with the support of his wife Usha, had a meeting with the Vatican’s second-in-command on Saturday. This followed a significant papal criticism of the Trump administration’s harsh stance on migrants and Vance’s theological defense of it, invoking the ancient Catholic concept of ‘Ordo Amoris’.
[…] The meeting came amid an ongoing feud between Vance and Pope Francis, who penned a letter to the VP taking issue with some of the things he has said in the past. — Irish Star

The headline:

Pope Francis snubs JD Vance with brutal ‘compassion’ decision

US Vice President JD Vance met with Pietro Parolin on Saturday, while many thought that he had made the trip to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis instead

Yeah.

THAT’s the ‘news’ reporting.

Let’s check JD’s social media.

What’s that? Pictures of the Pope sitting with JD?

Impossible! The pope snubbed him!

Let’s check ‘impartial news service’ Reuters for a timeline of that visit, looking at the headlines, written by their editors.

APRIL 18th  — Good Friday:

Vance, Catholic at odds with Pope Francis, attends Vatican’s Good Friday service

Apr 19th — Holy Saturday

Vatican holds ‘cordial’ talks with Vance after criticisms of Trump policies

Apr 20th — Easter Sunday

Pope Francis, a Trump critic, meets Vance on Easter morning

Three days, three different headlines… and every one highlighted conflict between Francis and the Trump administration.

Not so long ago, they ran this headline.

Pope Francis meets with Biden, Lula at G7 summit

Curiously, despite Biden having been the most aggressive supporter of abortion the United States has ever known — something the Catholic Church has taken a very firm stand on — there was no mention of conflict here.

Go figure. And when it was Pelosi, the only ‘conflict’ angle in the story was about her taking mass in defiance of Conservative Archbishops who have criticized her pro-abortion activism as antithetical to the faith.

No mention of Obama/Biden harassing the Little Sisters of the Poor, either.

Imagine that. If only we had some clue as to why that might be.

Could it be malicious bias?

Perish the thought.
