WHOOPS: Judge Resigns Over Tren De Aragua Connection… At His Own Home

He was a magistrate for 11 years. This did not reflect well on his judgement

When your job is to hear cases and adjudicate them, your critical skill is unimpeachable judgment. Some ‘mistakes’ are big enough mark against that judgement that you just can’t continue.

‘Mistakes’ like renting out your guest house to illegal aliens that just happen to belong to a gang that has been named a terrorist organization.

Oops.

On March 3, Judge Joel Cano gave his resignation letter, giving his boilerplate ‘thank-you for the privilege’ letter to the public in an Albuquerque newspaper. He didn’t immediately say why, but the reason is now clear.

He and his wife had rented out their guest house to Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, a 23-year-old illegal immigrant.

Federal law enforcement has accused him of being connected to the Venezuelan gang.

Court documents show Ortega-Lopez lived in El Paso, Texas, before he met Cano’s wife, Nancy Cano, while doing construction work. He accepted her offer to stay at a guest house behind the family residence.

He was at the residence when Homeland Security Investigations, under U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, executed a search warrant on Feb. 28 for his arrest.

Ortega-Lopez is now in custody without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center and is facing federal firearm charges. — Just The News

Not to worry, the magistrate is sure to land on his feet. After all, the Dems love nothing better than someone willing to put himself out there for an illegal alien.
