WOMP-WOMP: Trump Gives Hopelessly Partisan NPR And PBS Some BAD NEWS

Looks like they'll have to spew their partisan lies for free

How many times have you looked at a ridiculous Democrat talking point that some clown shares on social media — only to notice it’s a link to NPR?

How many times has the PBS marched in lockstep agreement whichever policy or cultural position the Dems try to stir up against conservatives?

Should taxpayers be obligated to subsidize partisan efforts to silence their voices? Of course not. That’s one of the reasons conservatives love, love, love how DOGE is exposing the human centipede that government NGO funding has become, and (more importantly) sending it to the dustbin of history where it belongs. The Stacy Abrams instance is just one glaring example of a far larger problem.

And the same thing the left does with institutions, they do with information. That’s why they care so VERY much about silencing their enemies.

We learned from Marco Rubio this week that Biden’s administration even had dossiers on which conservatives they considered to be ‘misinformation’ that should be silenced.

ENDING TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZATION OF BIASED MEDIA

Here’s the part of the order most interesting to most of us:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:

Section 1. Purpose. National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) receive taxpayer funds through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Unlike in 1967, when the CPB was established, today the media landscape is filled with abundant, diverse, and innovative news options. Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary but corrosive to the appearance of journalistic independence.

At the very least, Americans have the right to expect that if their tax dollars fund public broadcasting at all, they fund only fair, accurate, unbiased, and nonpartisan news coverage. No media outlet has a constitutional right to taxpayer subsidies, and the Government is entitled to determine which categories of activities to subsidize. The CPB’s governing statute reflects principles of impartiality: the CPB may not “contribute to or otherwise support any political party.” 47 U.S.C. 396(f)(3); see also id. 396(e)(2).

The CPB fails to abide by these principles to the extent it subsidizes NPR and PBS. Which viewpoints NPR and PBS promote does not matter. What does matter is that neither entity presents a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens.

I therefore instruct the CPB Board of Directors (CPB Board) and all executive departments and agencies (agencies) to cease Federal funding for NPR and PBS.

Sec. 2. Instructions to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. (a) The CPB Board shall cease direct funding to NPR and PBS, consistent with my Administration’s policy to ensure that Federal funding does not support biased and partisan news coverage. The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law and shall decline to provide future funding.

The press is having a coniption fit, predictably.

Maybe they could all ‘learn to code’, like the coal miners they used to mock.

Failing that, they can adjust their programming so that it attracts enough viewers that people would either pay memberships to stream it (like many streaming platforms) or, failing that, they can find sponsors to run ads.

The third option, I suppose is to tell your lies for free, or find some leftwing billionaire willing to take you on as a vanity project to serve has his own political echo chamber.

Fair warning, even the big guys can’t always make it work. Just look at the ratings of the so-called ‘news’ shows these days.
