One thing about the Apostle Paul — you were never in doubt about where things stood between you and him.
When the call of Christ is on the line, only the summit-or-plummet kind of Christian were welcome to come along for the trip. Tourists need not apply.
Just ask John Mark.
And the people who got in his way? Some of their names have been recorded for history. Alexander the metalworker was called out by name in a letter to Timothy, warning him about the strong opposition to the gospel work. Another guy he handed over to Satan.
Yikes! Paul isn’t playing around. You’re in or you’re out.
But the real ones? The guys he can depend on when it really matters? Guys like Onesimus and the guy we’re looking at this week? When Paul has been won over by the conduct and character of a real stand up guy, he isn’t shy about saying so.
And the funny thing is, you probably don’t even know this guys name. But you will when we’re done.
