Latest Arctic Ice Measurements Are In! — Someone Get Al Gore A Tissue

Of course, they'll still find SOME way to turn this into a 'scary story. They always do

Remember when National Geographic had everyone in a panic over that skinny polar bear story, where they invented a whole back-story and pinned it to… you know it without my even saying so.

After a few months of panic, followed by a great deal of fundraising over the ‘endangered’ polar bears, and the predictable scolding the rest of us have for just living our lives, National Geographic retracted the story admitting that we really didn’t know what was wrong with that bear, or whether it was one sick bear or part of some larger story.

Everything we thought we knew about that bear was a story based solely on cojecture that had been stacked on top of a photograph. It just ‘happened’ to fit the prevailing narrative.

Before that, Al Gore had confidently predicted that the sea ice would be gone in just a few years, both in his ‘documentary’ (the one that lost some court battles concerning its claims) and his ‘Day After Tomorrow’ cataclysm movie where the polar ice slid into the ocean, causing New York to freeze over.

Our allegedly ‘fragile’ planet needs to be saved from us, we are routinely told, as the environment is invoked again and again as the blunt instrument we are hit over the head with as a justification for increasingly draconian expectations curtailing the freedom of ordinary people.

Back then, we called it ‘global warming’. But the broader term ‘climate change’ was a more rhetorically useful catch-all in which everything could be thrown — including situations with ZERO connection to the weather. The arson-instigated forest fires that dimmed the sun in NYC, for instance were ‘climate change‘. Or even tsunami, which are a function of earthquakes, and NOT the weather, however desperately the activists might want to convince us otherwise.

We moved away from ‘global warming’ because a planet built on rhythms and cycles will have the pendulum swing in different directions. When the planet is getting ‘cooler’, it looks bad for the alarmists.

But since they have been pretty consistent in their own alarmism about the loss of sea ice, it should be an important data point that current levels of sea ice exceed levels recorded in the very first year of tracking them — 1981.

Better still, there are only two years in the last 20 in which recorded levels of sea ice coverage were more than this year’s levels.

The Canadian Ice Service data show that the sea ice areas in the period from June 25 to July 16, 2025 continue to be above average (far right) and even larger than at the beginning of the measurements in 1981 (far left).

This year, for the period June 25 – July 16, the levels are the third highest in over 20 years. Data source: Canada Ice Service for sea ice areas in the Western Arctic. — Climate Science Press

Because someone will inevitably ask — yes, these come from official government statistics published by the Government of Canada, a country as committed to environmental activism as perhaps any other Western nation.

The link has charts and will direct people to the original study.

So, how will we POSSIBLY break the sad news to Al Gore?
