Sydney Sweeney: Online Outrage From Right And Left Only Drives Ad To Greater Success
Have they never heard of the Stresissand Effect?

Have you ever wondered whether some people can only be happy when they have something they can rage about?
If you’re like many of us, American Eagle is a brand you haven’t given a moment’s thought about since… I’m not exactly sure when. Long enough that the brand needed a pick-me up.
The left’s campaign to convince us to believe their lies about beauty standards are running out of gas so badly that even the former face of heavyweight ‘body positivity’ Lizzo has been chronicling her gym transformation and dropping weight in a big way. We congratulate her for the results that come from old-fashioned hard work and discipline.
The powers that be in advertising seem to have woken up from a stupor to realize something the rest of us have always known: pretty faces sell products. Nobody asked if it was ‘fair’ or ‘appropriate’. It’s just a simple marketing fact.
Not surprisingly, one of Hollywoods’s best-known up-and-coming pretty faces has had more endorsement offers than she can shake a stick at. Sydney Sweeney is now in the news over a cheeky ad for American Eagle jeans.
This story was playing out for a while, and it’s only because the outrage factory is still cranking out new material that ClashDaily is weighing in at all.
Why the outrage?
It’s not because she pushed any moral boundaries or got too ‘spicy’ — she’d have to go a long way to top Brooke Shields’ alleged double-entendre with ‘nothing’ comes between her and her Calvins that had some networks ban the ad altogether, but because some catty leftist decided to make yet another low-effort character assassination attempt by invoking (yet again) NAZIs.
The ad itself is kind of clever in a break-the-fourth-wall sort of a way. She’s sitting in a sparse room adorned with nothing but herself, a mirror and a chair. She’s down playing the entire ad. ‘I’m not saying’ … ‘why would I have to say that?’ … while she’s wearing the product she’s talking about, and stopping for a moment to admire her reflection. And she ends with a cheeky ‘see what I did there’?
Then along comes the announcer to say the really offensive slogan: ‘Sydney Sweeney has great jeans’.
Some leftist from Our Lady of the Blue-Haired And Perpetually Offended went straight to the announcer’s slogan and saw racism. The media dutifully played along with the outrage.
MSNBC posted just one of the many headlines we could have pulled to make this point:
Sydney Sweeney’s ad shows an unbridled cultural shift toward whiteness
Advertisements are always mirrors of society, and sometimes what they reflect is ugly and startling.
The rest of us are savvy enough to realize that it’s a part of common speech to say that anyone with great looks and a physique to match have ‘won the genetic lottery’… and the phrase works just as well whether that person is Sydney Sweeney, Gal Gadot, Ilfenesh Hadera, Halle Berry, or Salma Hayak.
Nazi. Nazi. Nazi. White girl genes… blah blah blah.
If the stupidity had ended there, it probably wouldn’t have been worth commenting on.
But the fringe right, and the racists who have thrown in with them, have been looking for ways to become every bit as insufferable as the woke left, and every time the left says ‘Nazi’. they seem to almost reflexively say… well, let’s show it in their own words.
Most of the names in the quotes below are from accounts I don’t know and don’t follow. But one name is familiar, and he was a fairly well-known name on conservative Twitter back in the day. I hadn’t heard of him for a while, and now I suspect I know why.

FUN FACTS: The CEO of American Eagle is Jay L. Schottenstein
One of the largest donors to Jewish causes
Previously, the company was founded by Mark and Jerry Silverman
American Eagle has focused on supporting Israeli holidays including giving free ad space to Chabad
Yikes. Dude has a pretty low bar for his idea of ‘fun’.
Quotes from some other randos. Not surprisingly the groyper crowd pops up with this particular keyword search:
- “The Sydney Sweeney psyop is supporting the jewish view of the goyim. Smarten up retards”
- The Sydney Sweeney jeans thing is a fake controversy. It’s a jew owned company using the same tactic jew owned Hollywood studios use to gin up buzz around their movies
- This entire Sydney Sweeney/American Eagle “Genes/Jeans” sh*t is just another Jewish PsyOp. You people need to start doing Research on things.
- If you took part in hyping up sydney sweeney‘s jeans ad, congrats. You supported a clothing company ran by jews, starring a woman who has repeatedly been filmed in interracial pairings with black men.
These race-obsessed clowns have no idea they sound exactly like the screechy blue-haired folks on the left.
Some scribblers seem to think that the wave of outrage is ‘problematic’ and something that American Eagle would want to take a mulligan over.
Yeah, no. There is something much worse than being in the eye of a firestorm where everyone is talking about the Hollywood ‘it’ girl who has come out to endorse your product: having nobody at all talking about it.
