WATCH: Suddenly Even Bernie Sanders Is An ICE-Supporting Border Hawk… What Changed?
Something's afoot if even Bernie has flipped his position on immigration

Bernie Sanders, border enforcer? It sounds like the set-up for a punchline, until you realize it’s the position he’s found himself endorsing in recent interviews.
Bernie Sanders has never been the sort of guy to high-five Tom Homan for the task he has set out to accomplish. So why would that change now?
The ‘why’ may be up for speculation, but the fact that he’s flipped is not.
An immigration law firm’s site recently celebrated Bernie’s immigration position as being willing to expand Obama’a DACA policy, keep families together, end mass deportations, and look for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens. (The site, obviously used a less accurate term.)
June 22 wasn’t so long ago. How well does it square with what he’s saying to Anderson Cooper on CNN now?
🚨BREAKING: Bernie Sanders just FLIPPED on his immigration stance, says he supports deporting people who are just “undocumented.”

Right at the conclusion of the clip, he says, “Look, this is where I think the American people are at: if you are a drug dealer, if you are somebody in this country undocumented or has committed a crime, I think most people think, ‘hey, have a nice day, you’re outta here’.”
He put that safely in the voice of other people, so he wont have to own the idea as his own, to be sure. But look carefully at the ‘or’ in his sentence. Until recently, they wouldn’t have stood back and let ICE cart off anyone for merely being unlawfully at large in America. They would insist on a second layer of criminality before anyone act. And even that detail might be up for some debate.
Don’t mistake this for open praise of Trump. His contempt for the President has not changed at all. but his positions have.
Whether it’s conceding a losing public opinion battle, or a genuine shift in policy is a whole other set of questions.
