Dems Will NOT Like Malcolm Gladwell’s Recent Pivot On Men In Women’s Sports

How ironic that Malcolm’s Jonny-come-lately change of heart in women’s sport is a wonderful opportunity to use one of his book titles to explain why he caved to pressure in the first place.

Voices like ClashDaily have never been all that interested in toe-ing the line for faddish movements that all of the ‘important people’ seem hellbent on flocking to adopt. Women in Sports, and rejection of the COVIDictators’ Pandemic Panic are just a few obvious examples.

But human nature and the temptation of sunk-cost fallacies being what they are, it’s always good to see someone climbing out of the Plato’s Cave of The-Current-Thing delusion and step into the light of day.

Malcolm Gladwell was once a voice in support of male sufferers of gender dysphoria participating in women’s athletics.

Gladwell just came out with a statement reversing his position on the role of men in women’s sports, claiming he had been ‘cowed’ into joining what had only recently gone from an absolutely unthinkable idea to one that public personalities dare not speak out against.

He hid the ugly truth behind some pretty words, but he admits in this clip that he had no courage to back up the convictions of what he ACTUALLY believed, and went along to get along with the perceived ‘consensus view’ when his own understanding of the truth was dangrously unpopular with the sort of people who hold career-ending power over the heads of public figures who would be ruined by the tactics of ‘cancel culture’.

Malcom Gladwell says he is “ashamed” of having said in a previous panel discussion that trans women have a place in women’s sports. He says he was “cowed” into saying so.

When it mattered most, he was gutless.

Matt Walsh — who was leading the charge on this very fight — makes a point worth remembering:

It’s funny how ‘Tipping Point’ was the title of Gladwell’s most famous books, because there is a video describing exactly what kind of a difference the courage he COULD have shown on this very issue might have made. Of course, that would have required Malcolm standing up when it mattered, instead of waiting until enough other people had already taken a stand, giving him ‘cover’ to walk back his commitment to the once-popular lie.

It’s a 2010 video by Derek Sivers describing the critical importance of having a courageous second guy to join a would-be group activity that gives a permission structure and lowers the investment of courage required by others to join in.

That’s why the most important children’s story in our day may well be the Emperor’s New Clothes, where it takes the courage of someone not afraid of what it might cost him to stand boldly in declaring obvious truths that everyone knows, but nobody can dare to speak out loud.
