A mass shooting. A call to prayer. Another argument about guns. The effort to score political points in the wake of unspeakable horror. A louder voice ignoring the rank cruelty, content to add to the darkness, remarks straight from the source of evil.
Still, our God reigns.
The two children murdered are with the Lord in glory. They encourage us from Paradise to keep the faith. They follow a long line of Believers reaching back thousands of years, reminding us to live by faith, not by sight.
The other children and adults victimized deserve and need our prayers. They must carry on, innocent victims who were attending mass, praying for hope. All their prayers will be answered. How do we know this? We know this because God cannot lie, His promises are true and He always keeps His Word.
How sad to witness hopeless people compound the suffering.
The One who suffered and died knows the thoughts and intentions of every heart, and one day he will separate the goats from the sheep at the final reconciliation, the Day justice and mercy will envelop the whole earth.
Meanwhile, we would be wise to remember the billions of prayers always sent by people with a childlike faith, the only ones who will see the New Heaven and the New Earth.
