With Many Dems Doubling Down On Trump-Is-Hitler Rhetoric… One Is The Surprising Voice Of Reason
His politics are still nutty, but he's far more human than many others in his party
It was a perfect opportunity to showcase their humanity, to show the world that their ‘country before party’ rhetoric had some substance to the claims. It was an easy win, and they whiffed on it.
Well, not everybody.
Usually Dems march in lockstep on issues they consider important. They seem to have mastered the skill of making sure all their fighting is done behind closed doors, and then, when the dust is settled they come out and speak with one voice on most issues.
Trump as an ‘authoritarian’ and a ‘threat to democracy’ has been one of those points of agreement. Until now.
Many Dems blamed Charlie Kirk’s ‘inflammatory’ rhetoric, or laid the blame for the murder of Charlie Kirk at the feet of Trump specifically, or MAGA more generally — some even suggesting that J6 was somehow responsible for yet ANOTHER in a long line of political acts of violence to culminate in the willful assassination of an unarmed civilian in broad daylight.
But once again, the voice of reason calling bull**** on the Dems’ very dog-eared line about Trump and the GOP being a ‘threat to Democracy’ is coming from an unexpected direction.
They guy whose stroke seemed to be absolutely incapacitating when he first took office has found his voice and is not afraid to rock the boat and challenge his own party’s line of BS.
He’s blowing the ‘Hitler’ and ‘shredding democracy’ lies completely out of the water.

Does that change the fact that he’s often just one more rubber-stamp on the Schumer agenda? No. But once ONE voice can speak out and say the truth, it gets a lot easier for others to do the same.
Credit where it’s due, and we can only hope that he applies this same critical thinking to other aspects of the Dem agenda. Who knows what other flaws he might discover in their arguments along the way.
