OOPS: Greta Just Messed Up Social Media So Badly That Even ‘Not The Bee’ Is Covering It

All she really had to do was to stand back and give the rumors of a peace deal room to breathe. If we are to take her at her word, there’s at least that much on which people on either side of the issue should agree, right? But she didn’t.

And this is the difference so many of us see between, say Malala Yousafzai, the girl who was shot by a Taliban gunman on her way to school, and has become an activist for the right of girls to go to school, going on to become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the endless dramatic pagentry that characterizes Greta’s protests.

Here’s the story at-a-glance, with the headline and the relevant photo attached. It’s enough to give you the sense of what happened, but we will explain further.

She wanted to underscore the point she was making about Israeli cruelty and how they are unjustly starving innocent civilians, so she posted a photo to her Instagram.

Pretty routine for an activist to make, right? Except for one detail. But it was an important one. Do you see the photo she included of the starving civilian on the bottom right?

He’s not just ANY ‘starving civilian’. He happens to be the same person that Hamas filmed in a terror tunnel while being forced to dig his own grave on camera.

He’s one of the starving civilians all right. She got the cruelty part right, too. He was among the civilians dragged into captivity after the slaughter at the music festival on October 7th/2023. He wasn’t just starved, but was made to dig his own grave.

One can scarcely imagine the pain it brought on his family that an activist dressed in the distinctive garb of his captors was using his image as a prop in her online activism.

She has since deleted that post.

MY Disclaimer:

This is usually the part of the conversation where someone starts claiming that the schmuck typing these words at his keyboard is ‘on the take’ or ‘in the pay’ of Israel, and ‘don’t you know how bad the other side is’?

My answer to that is simple. Remember that old medical show, ‘House’? The one with that cynical doctor diagnosing the weird conditions? He was famous for saying ‘Everybody Lies‘.

That, in a nutshell, is my approach to this ENTIRE conflict.

Some perspective:

Even in America, we’re just now getting around to unravelling all the ways Biden’s government lied to us over his 4 years and longer, including some horrifying finds by the FBI, we’ve got the CIA covering up Veep Biden’s corruption cases, all sorts of ways the White House was leveraging Big Tech to silence its critics, and push various hard-left agendas, some of which involve forms of racial or religious discrimination that are expressly forbidden by law.

And that’s before we even get to the subversive tactics taken to sandbag a Presidential candidate with the complicit aid of both a sitting president, his corruptocrat veep and the woman running as his would-be successor from the same party.

America’s government has no monopoly on lies and propaganda

If America’s own institutions lied to ‘We The People’ that they swore oaths to serve, why shouldn’t we have the basic working assumption that every other government is doing the same to one degree or another…?

I am assuming that the spin cycles will be on overdrive to conceal embarrassing facts, espeically in wartime. Churchill was more honest than most with his quote about the truth having a bodyguard of lies. If that was true in the mid 20th century, would that be a greater or smaller problem now that we’ve moved to the ‘Information Age’.

How much harder will the lies and spin come when a country is actively fighting a war? (*cough* Abu Gharib, and WMD *cough*).

Deception and propaganda is not JUST employed by governments. Activists employ it too

Greta’s post is a perfect example of the reason I won’t rush off to join forces with the torch-and-pitchfork crowd opposed to Israel. Ever.

Right in this specific post, she employs a lie to manipulate a crowd. The goal? To motivate people to align with and join her activist cause.

It’s hardly the first time she, or her fellow travellers went out of their way to exploit emotion and motivate the backing of a cause, or to force political change. All the pagentry of the sit-ins and arrests are orchestrated to harvest attention and emotion and redirect it into her cause du jour. It’s hardly a new tactic.

And it’s not just the activists themselves.

How many times have ‘official channels’ friendly to the Palestinian side been caught in a lie that just happens to magnify the atrocities of which Israel stands accused? UNWRA had to fire, what, 19 people for being participants in the Pograms? News sources report Hamas statistics unreservedly. Even the freaking NYTimes got caught cropping a healthy kid out of a photo to push their bogus story that his disabled brother was ‘starving’.

One guy, dubbed as ‘Pallywood’ early in the conflict became the Where’s Waldo of activists. What costume would he be wearing next time?

It doesn’t help their credibility when the US Treasurey Department releases reports linkng Hamas to various supposed charity organizations. Groups that are alleged to include certain proxy funders of Greta’s flotilla.

Somebody’s paying for this big-ticket activism. Flotillas ain’t cheap.

The 30,000 foot view and the propaganda war

Looking at the original 1988 Hamas Charter itself, we see that this conflict, in the eyes of its participants, is at least in part, a propaganda war…

Article Thirty:
Writers, intellectuals, media people, orators, educaters and teachers, and all the various sectors in the Arab and Islamic world – all of them are called upon to perform their role, and to fulfill their duty, because of the ferocity of the Zionist offensive and the Zionist influence in many countries exercised through financial and media control, as well as the consequences that all this lead to in the greater part of the world.

Jihad is not confined to the carrying of arms and the confrontation of the enemy. The effective word, the good article, the useful book, support and solidarity – together with the presence of sincere purpose for the hoisting of Allah’s banner higher and higher – all these are elements of the Jihad for Allah’s sake.

“Whosoever mobilises a fighter for the sake of Allah is himself a fighter. Whosoever supports the relatives of a fighter, he himself is a fighter.” (related by al-Bukhari, Moslem, Abu-Dawood and al-Tarmadhi). [emphasis in bold added]

In their own words, to support their cause, even in writing, is to become a particiant in a perpetual war against Jews living in Israel. I have no part in that Jihad…. mainly because, in the words of that same document, they have no interest in EVER ending this war. Getting them to agree to peace terms of any kind will require the abandoning of their core beliefs as laid out in their charter, especially the first line:

Article Thirteen:
Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion. Nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its religion. Its members have been fed on that. For the sake of hoisting the banner of Allah over their homeland they fight. “Allah will be prominent, but most people do not know.”

Now and then the call goes out for the convening of an international conference to look for ways of solving the (Palestinian) question. Some accept, others reject the idea, for this or other reason, with one stipulation or more for consent to convening the conference and participating in it. Knowing the parties constituting the conference, their past and present attitudes towards Moslem problems, the Islamic Resistance Movement does not consider these conferences capable of realising the demands, restoring the rights or doing justice to the oppressed. These conferences are only ways of setting the infidels in the land of the Moslems as arbitraters. When did the infidels do justice to the believers?

“But the Jews will not be pleased with thee, neither the Christians, until thou follow their religion; say, The direction of Allah is the true direction. And verily if thou follow their desires, after the knowledge which hath been given thee, thou shalt find no patron or protector against Allah.” (The Cow – verse 120).
There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with. As in said in the honourable Hadith:

“The people of Syria are Allah’s lash in His land. He wreaks His vengeance through them against whomsoever He wishes among His slaves It is unthinkable that those who are double-faced among them should prosper over the faithful. They will certainly die out of grief and desperation.” [emphasis added]

And Article Eleven lays out the rationale for why the zealots who wrote this Charter claim this particular patch of the world as their own, not just now, but forever. They conquered it in the name of Islam, and on those grounds, it shall remain ‘consecrated’ to Muslims until their understanding of ‘Judgment Day’.

Article Eleven:
The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. Neither a single Arab country nor all Arab countries, neither any king or president, nor all the kings and presidents, neither any organization nor all of them, be they Palestinian or Arab, possess the right to do that. Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgement Day. This being so, who could claim to have the right to represent Moslem generations till Judgement Day?

This is the law governing the land of Palestine in the Islamic Sharia (law) and the same goes for any land the Moslems have conquered by force, because during the times of (Islamic) conquests, the Moslems consecrated these lands to Moslem generations till the Day of Judgement.

The very root of their claim… in their own language is Divine Right granted by conquest. Which implies, naturally, a time when it was NOT yet conquered in the name of Islam. An odd thing for the ‘native people’ to say about their land.

Again, and I cannot stress this enough… the group who masterminded the 10/7 massacre, and named it after the Mosque on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, is not basing their claim to perpetual ownership on the basis of being the natural or original owner of the land… but because they conquered it and ‘consecrated’ it to their god.

Where are all of the anti-colonialists in objecting to that? Where are the secularists?

I refuse to be backed into some corner where I throw my support unreservedly behind any of the causes belli of the current war unreservedly.

I refuse to play the ‘who did what to whom’ game that ultimately becomes a Sisyphean infinite regress. I refuse to look into the generations-long or even centuries-long cherry-picked grievances each side has against one another and declare a ‘victim’. That’s what dug the rut we’ve spent my entire life stuck in in the first place.

What I can look forward to, with a modest, but growing spark of hope, is that someone can help both sides find a way off this Hatfield and McCoy hamster wheel of injury and retribution.

This writer’s own hopes for regional peace are modest.

We are looking at two neighbors who don’t much like each other. But, perhaps, with the aid of outside forces like the ones Trump helped cobble together we might grope forward in the dark toward an uneasy peace.

In living memory, we have seen foes with vicious histories become cooperative. Europe suffered 2 World Wars, and (apart from former Yugoslavia) found a way to go decades without conflict. And who would have imagined, just a generation or two ago, that a sitting President could meet on friendly terms with leaders from Japan, China, Russia, South Korea, Germany, and Vietnam.

Trump keeps a running tally of the wars he’s been able to bring to an end.

Maybe, just maybe, the agreement cobbled together this week will hold up.

With just a little luck, maybe some prayer, and some persuasion from both Western and Middle Eastern influences, both sides could be persuaded to live in peace.

If the shelling, the shooting, and the stabbings can stop?

Then we can finally and truly turn our attention to solving the problems on the ground — the hard work of rebuilding cities and rebuilding lives.

Those who want the killing to stop might begin by praying that this peace deal is not just another mirage like so many before it.
