Two Judges, Two Tragedies, Two VERY Different Public Responses

A judge’s home has been engulfed in flames, and before the fires were quelled, assumptions had been made online about who to blame for a fire whose cause was not yet known… compare that to what happened to another judge.

Maybe you heard about a judge’s home going up in flames. It was kind of a big deal. People in side were hurt trying to escape the flames. Like so many other cases, it was anybody’s guess as to the cause, but the reaction on both sides was telling.

Yours truly did what used to be the most basic good and decent thing in response to an unknown in sharing a hope that, should it be discovered that the fire was an act of arson, that the person responsible would be identified and apprehended.

The (mostly conservative) replies were in general agreement, that (supposing it was arson) it would be a Bad Thing, but we’ll wait until the Fire Marshall comes back with a formal statement about what happened before we jump to conclusions.

The situation was further complicated by the fact that this particular judge, South Carolina’s Diane Goodstein, had recently made a ruling against one of Trump’s initiatives.

Which leads us to the other response — Leftwing Crazies denouncing MAGA for ‘obvious’ arson before any of the relevant facts have been made public.

Nicholle Wallace and her guest Mary McCord helped chum the waters of hatred by attaching motive (a ruling against Trump), a suspect (someone supportive of Trump’s agenda), and a cause (arson) to a fire whose only known facts included the fire and the identity of the homeowner.

That’s quiet jump there, Nicolle. At least your guest had the good sense to throw in some lawyerspeak at the very end of the fever-dream scenario you wanted the public to walk away with. *IF*… but only AFTER she mentioned the phrase ‘domestic terrorism’ and connected it to Trump’s rhetoric.

We all know how this ends, right?

The investigation is still active and ongoing and agents will issue a report when they are finished and determine the cause, State Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel said in a statement.

“At this time, there is no evidence to indicate the fire was intentionally set. SLED agents have preliminarily found there is no evidence to support a pre-fire explosion,” Keel said, — AP

No evidence of arson, huh? That’s weird. That doesn’t match what the left, including the ‘news’ sources said. Not at all.

It should go without saying that if arson is ruled out, than ‘inflammatory language’ or ‘threats to judges’ are of no relevance.

Speaking of ‘threats to judges’, do you remember back in the Biden years, when Schumer stood on the courthouse steps and threatened Supreme Court judges by name that the would ‘reap the whirlwind’? (For those unfamiliar, ‘reap the whirlwind’ is biblical language for divine judgment, used, for example, when prophets warned of impending doom when Assyrians or Babylon would lay waste to the country and carry the survivors off into captivity.) Schumer raged at the courts, damning by name the Trump appointees he held responsible for taking up the Dobbs case which threatened to rewrite Roe V Wade standards (again).

The threat was in March of 2020. The unprecented leak of a SCOTUS decision was in May of 2022, but the decision itself was not yet handed down until June 24.

Remember what happened in the critical window between the leak and that decision becoming officially formalized? Pro-abortion zealots unleashed a ‘whirlwind’, you might call it of violence (look up ‘Jane’s Revenge’ — a group that firebombed and/or sprayed graffiti with threats of violence against churches and pro-life centers with the explicit connection between the Dobbs decision going forward as (leaked) and further escalations of violence. Biden’s FBI was so busy doing pre-dawn raids pointing guns at the home of a man and his houseful of kids that they simply never got around to cracking the cases of Jane’s Revenge, a domestic group that used violence and intimidation to press their political objectives. If only we had a word for such activities.

In that same window of time, a man was arrested near the home of Justice Kavanaugh. It wouldn’t have been hard to find: leftists had been violating the law by protesting outside conservative-appointed judges private homes in an effort push the outcome of a decision that (under the American legal system) should be moved by black letter law ONLY, and never as a result of political presssures.

The man who was arrested was on his way to the home of Justice Kavanaugh — with burglary tools, weapons, and zip ties — with the intent of assassinating Kavanugh (and killing his family), and (if possible) murdering another 2 other judges as well.

As it happens, the sentencing for that criminal was just handed down. How much prison time should someone planning to murder three judges let alone one (and their families as well) be given? Prosecution wanted the recommended 30 years. But that judge didn’t think that guidance ought to apply in this case.

Nicholas Roske (now going by ‘Sophie’) and even called a ‘woman’ by some news outlets, only got the 8 years requested by the defense team.

Because the judge made her sympathies to the defendant and his identity markers very evident in the sentencing phase. They were absolutely critical to how lenient the sentence was.
