AOC’s Gaffes

OP-Ed by Andrew Linn

With Election Day just around the corner, the mayor candidate for New York City Zohran Mamdani (an unrepentant socialist) still has the need in the polls. With support from his fellow socialists AOC and Bernie Sanders, I have no doubt he will run the Big Apple into the ground.

During a rally held for him last week, AOC gave a speech in which she blasted Trump by rattling on about authoritarianism, Gaza, and ICE. Question: are New Yorkers concerned about these topics in regards to a mayoral election?

While emphasizing New York City’s diverse population, AOC mentioned that the Big Apple was built by many people, including Italians escaping Fascism. Does she not know that a majority of Italian immigrants came to New York City (and elsewhere in America for that matter) during the late 1800s and early 1900s, long before the Fascists under Mussolini took over Italy? In fact, many of them were farmers from Southern Italy who left the country due to plummeting agricultural prices.

It should also be noted that prior to establishing the Fascist Party in Italy, Mussolini was a member of the Socialist Party, of which he was expelled by supporting Italy’s entry into World War I.

But apparently AOC (who acts like she is an expert on fascism) is unaware or indifferent to the truth.

And two weeks prior to the rally, AOC was at a town hall meeting, in which she called for drinkable air.

Since when is air drinkable?

She also accused Deloitte of polluting the water by dumping chemicals into waterways.

Deloitte is an accounting, consulting, and tax services firm.

She obviously confused Deloitte DuPont, during she mentioned rivers being on fire due to pollution. However, the last time such a fire took place in America was in 1969, when the Cuyahoga River caught fire. And I guess she is unaware of all the environmental measures that were implemented since then. But then again, such measures are probably not good enough for her given how she was obsessed with climate change.

In addition to her gaffes regarding environmentalism, AOC has blamed Republicans in the Senate for the ongoing government shutdown. Never mind the fact that the Democrats in the Senate are the ones who have voted against reopening the government.

Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders had his own gaffe when he said that the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos owns the social media network X. I guess he forgot or is unaware that Elon Musk owns X.

Regardless of these gaffes, one thing is clear, and that is AOC, Bernie Sanders, Zohran Mamdani, and their fellow socialists must be defeated.
