Canadian Leader Takes BOLD Stand On Rights Of Children… Stalls Trans Agenda
You'd hardly believe this could happen in Canada.... but it did

Most readers here probably write off Canada as a lost cause that fell to the woke mind virus. For the most part that’s fair criticism. But every so often, a glimmer of light appears in the darkness…
For any of what you’re about to hear to make sense, you need to remember that the Canadian federal system is upside-down from the one chosen by the Framers.
In the US, there’s an enumerated list of specific areas of authority the Federal government can exercise over the nation as a whole… with all kinds of loopholes dreamed up by the power-mad bureaucracy to work around those limitations.
Canada is still a Constitutional Monarchy, and when Ottawa says ‘jump’, the Provinces aren’t to ask ‘how high’ before complying. For example, there were two provinces that weren’t on board with changing the definition of marriage, and made local laws accordingly.. until Ottawa forced them to comply.
But there’s one little-used safeguard baked into the update to the Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms, which is part of the Constitution Act of 1982. The ‘Notwithstanding Clause’.
That gives a Province the ability to reject orders from on high (whether it comes from Federal Legislation or a court ruling) that would order the province to act against their own self-interests.
In the past, Quebec has invoked it to make language laws that unfairly privileged French above other languages, including English, to preserve their own distinct language and culture.
Besides that instance in Quebec, it went a long time without anyone using it at all. Even now, it is only used sparingly.
Alberta (think Canada’s answer to Texas, complete with oil, cattle, and the most reliably conservative voting block in the country) is using it to pump the brakes on three distinct aspects of the trans issue.
As the caption this video was posted states:
Premier Smith announces she will invoke the notwithstanding clause to pass three bills protecting parental rights and women’s sports in Alberta.
“This is one of the most consequential actions our government will take during our time in office,” she says.

The changes are:
1) Minor children (under 18) will not get gender reassignment surgery, and puberty blockers cannot be given to to minors under the age of sixteen. (Keep in mind, the legal age of sexual consent in Canada is 16, not 18. That age of consent was RAISED to 16 by the Conservatives in 2008… it had previously been 14.)
2) Parental rights protections take effect in schools, where schools cannot change name or gender by which children are referred without parental buy-in, and parental opt-in consent is required in for any teaching on identity, sexual orientation, or human sexuality.
Parents, not teachers, legislators, or courts, are to have the primary role in the raising of children.
3) If you weren’t born a girl, you will not participate in girls’/women’s amateur sporting events.
