Dems Blink On Shumer’s Shutdown — And The Left Are NOT Happy!

Funny how the shutdown ended just as soon as 8 Democrats decided to reopen the government

Schumer’s Shutdown was a little like Schrödinger’s cat… Dems could end it any time they wanted, but somehow, it was all the Republicans’ fault?

Dems did exactly what everyone always knew they were going to do from the beginning. Some predicted the playbook almost down to the letter. The only unknown quantity was how long they would keep up the game before they started to break ranks.

On Sunday, after setting another new record for the longest-ever shutdown, they voted to end it.

They gave up their resistance charade of ‘standing on’ any semblance of principle. Their tantrum helped their get out the vote efforts, it made a big stink. It gave Schumer the political street cred he need to show he’s a ‘fighter’ before the DSA put a primary target on his head and install AOC or one of her clones in his seat the next time around.

And what did they get for their efforts? Not much really.

Nothing more than what they were already going to be negotiating during the next budget. The best spin you can put on this is that they tied up the Senate for more than a month, which chewed up the clock for legislative priorities that the GOP would have wanted to pass.

Republicans finally got the 60 votes needed for the Clean CR the House passed all the way back in September, reopening a government that had run out of funding since October 1.

The deal would reportedly give back pay to many federal workers, but would not authorize the extension of enhanced subsidies through insurance companies for Obamacare, lawmakers in both parties said.

A coalition of around 10 Senate Democrats signaled that they will support moving forward with a package of three appropriations bills, coupled with a short-term funding stopgap through the end of January.

The deal also reportedly includes a December floor vote on extending the expanded pandemic-era Affordable Care Act tax credits for one additional year as well as language aimed at reversing the federal layoffs carried out during the shutdown. — Just The News

The reactions to the Dem senators crossing the floor and voting with the GOP should be good news, right? How many times have Dem senators wagged their fingers at the camera and told the GOP to reopen the government, while voting more than a dozen times to keep the Schumer Shutdown going.

Remember, this was all about ‘leverage’. (Or as some of them like to say, ‘leee-verage’.) Their party whip admitted as much, and Schumer himself was caught saying that every of the shutdown was better for them.

Until the people they were screwing over started to complain about being pawns in their game.

Keith Olberman’s meltdown over this news is almost a story of its own. To say he’s ‘not taking it well’ is an understatement.

A few examples:

Even Democrat flunkie-for-hire Harry Sisson was freaking out.

He went on to film a short rage response video that didn’t seem to get much traction, so we didn’t bother including it.

WE’ve got Schiff doing his obligatory selfie video in the rain lamenting that his side picked a fight and lost. He’s being every bit as melodramatic about it as you might expect. Again, not giving him the clicks he so desperately craves.

Nadler (or one of his staffers) wrote a complaint on social media, too.

Because he’s Nadler, he was mocked for it.

Bolshevik Bernie took his shot at rallying the troops to bolster his lost cause from the well of the senate, but to no avail.

Maybe the only elected Democrat who came out of this with his dignity intact is the one that keeps surprising us at every turn.

We seriously underestimated that guy.

Maybe we could have his entire caucus get whatever kind of help Walter Reed gave him. He’s like a whole other person than the one we saw running.
