One Canadian Province Starting To Look A LOT More Like Texas Under Bold Leadership

You can now add a couple more points of comparison between this Western Province and the Great State of Texas.

Whether you’re looking at the oil industry, agriculture and cattle, or the conservative voter base, there’s a lot of ways to think of Alberta as Canada’s answer to Texas. And now, you can add one more.

They are taking a big step in the direction of Second-Amendment-style rights.

There’s no small degree of irony in the fact that despite Canada’s reputation of being effete woke city-dwellers dominating an underclass of flannel-and-denim wearing underclass that actually makes the country run, there was a time when Canada was dominated by the sort of people who needed a shower at the end of the work day, not the beginning. As recently as the American Civil war, Canada was known as a nation of sharp-shooters, and played a role in the development of the NRA.

Remember that the next time some whiny Canuck moans and groans about American gun culture.

And yet somehow, they became a country in which not only do only the criminals get to carry guns, but if they break into your house, you can get charged for shooting them. In one case, a homeowner took the gun away from the intruder, shot him with his own weapon, and faced criminal gun charges for defending himself.

Alberta’s Premier (their answer to a Governor) is making waves. She’s defying draconian federal laws that punish lawful gun owners, and she’s invoking provincial laws to protect them.

It’s kind of a big deal because unlike America’s federal system, Canada went with a centralized model where the significiant power is concentrated in the hands of the federal government.

Alberta, which has been fleeced, kicked in the teeth, and taken for granted by other provinces for long enough that there are serious rumblings about seceding, is drawing a line in the sand.

The gun seizure laws passed by federal liberals will NOT be enforced by Albertan police. If a homeonwer in Alberta shoots an intruder? He will not be charged with a crime.

Little weird to say that the female Premier of Alberta has got more cojones than all the other leaders of Canada. Then again, we’ve seen what some of those gelded fools look like. So maybe it isn’t so surprising after all.
