Everyone Is Now Laughing At Candace Owens — Can You Guess Why?

While the media is obsessing about ICE -- she's got wild theories about frozen water.

If this doesn’t put all her other conspiracy theories into their proper context, nothing will.

We’ve kept our distance from most of the Candace Owens because, well, she’s not that interesting and thrives on the controversy. What she will NOT thrive on nearly as much is having a spotlight shone on her own ridiculous vapidity.

It’s the kind of mistake that offers a momentary crack of vulnerability where any unthinking hero-worship types get an opportunity to reset their expectations of exactly whose opinion it is they are valuing. Independent minds of any stripe should have the willingness to disagree with their own tribe when they say something out-of-pocket.

But when your audience consists of people who assume the whole world consists of just one conspiracy theory after another, that kind of a wake-up call/reset takes stronger medicine than just one proverbial ‘mean tweet’.

Here’s Candace weighing in on the Ice Storm that hit her part of the country. The first two tweets are ones you may have already seen her get bodied over. Not as many people have seen the third one.

First, the ones you may have seen already:

And the follow-up tweet:

Your average literate third-grader could spot the flaw in her logic. I expect our readers are already rolling their eyes that 30 degrees is still BELOW the freezing point of water.

And the thing about an ice storm is that it comes down as liquid rain, lands on a surface coats it, drops by a degree or two, and becomes the base on which the next coat of ice is formed. It doesn’t take much rain to make those big beautiful crystalline formations on tree branches and power lines.

And the reason we don’t see more of it is that a variety of conditions have to be dialed in perfectly. A touch colder and it falls as sleet or snow, and doesn’t coat anything. A touch warmer and it doesn’t freeze on contact to make the ice sheet.

Basic science doesn’t require some kind of a conspiracy theory. But why let science answer this question when you can project your conspiracy fantasies on government weather machines?

Where the rest of us see ‘ice storm’ she see’s …’Korea’?

Seriously?.

Her online ‘friends’ really aren’t doing her any favors by feeding this kind of mania. As long as she keeps drawing an audience and making bank off of her wild assertions, she’ll never seek the help she seems to desperately need.

If she can’t even take a simple explanation like ‘rain hits cold surface and freezes in winter’ at face value, what hope does she have to see clearly when examining more complex and nuanced questions at the political level?

Poor thing. She’s let herself become a real cautionary tale.

He that has ears, let him hear.
