MEME OF THE DAY: Tim Walz Invokes Anne Frank… That Was A Mistake

We’ll have to wait and see whether the call with Trump has served as a wake-up call for how Walz and Frey have been ramping up the rhetoric (with some highly-placed political insiders unmasked as coordinating the resistance that often crosses the line of legality).
We saw the image of Tim Walz standing inside the iron gate in his mansion, encouraging the ‘resistance’ to keep at it, which took no time in emerging as a shorthand for the ivory-tower attitude of protected elites encouraging worker drones to take on all the risk while cloistered leaders reap the benefits.
With the ‘Nazi’ and even ‘Gestapo’ rhetoric so overblown that people no longer react to it the way they used to, Walz doubled down, and invoked Anne Frank. She was the young Jewish girl who kept a diary while remaining hidden in an attic until she and her family were carried off to meet their doom in the Nazi death camps.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Walz — whose master’s degree focused on Holocaust education — suggested that the conditions facing children in his state during the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement raids were of a kind with those facing Frank during the Holocaust.
“We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank,” he said. “Somebody is going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.” — Cleveland Jewish News

The US Holocaust Museum saw his statement as sufficiently repugnant that they had to address it in a formal statement.
“Anne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish,” the museum wrote in a statement shared on X on Monday, Jan. 26. “Leaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes is never acceptable. Despite tensions in Minneapolis, exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges.” — People
