EPIC: Hero Big Brother Risks It All To Save Mom And Siblings… And He Succeeds!

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes this thirteen year old boy kept his entire family alive

The courage of this kid is almost matched by the trust of his mother the let him take this desperate chance in the first place.

It only takes a minute on the water for the weather to change and turn against you.

That’s what happened to this family when the were kayaking off the shore of Australia. The weather turned and blew the mom and her 3 kids (13, 12, and 8) 4 km (2.5 miles) away from the shore of Geographe Bay on the South Westernmost coast of Australia.

Daylight was fading, they had no hope of making it back to shore, help was not coming and mom made the painful choice of sending her 13yo son off into the open ocean to try to go find help as daylight drained away.

And that’s exactly what 13yo Austin did. For his mom, his brother, and their baby sister. As light faded, and he vanished from view, his mom feared the worst, but he kept on going.

He tells his own story in this clip:

Not only did he have to make the painstaking 4 hour swim back to shore, but he had to run (of course he ran!) another 2 km (mile and a quarter) to go find someone who could bring him help after he did that.

When all was said and done, he did find help and everyone made it back safely.

What might have ended in tragedy wiping out an entire bloodline came out instead as an inspiring story of courage and determination.
