IRAN: Both Horrifying And Awesome Reactions Showing Up On Our Side Of The Atlantic

Walt Disney was right: It's a small world, after all.

By now, you’ve had news about the conflict in Iran coming at you from every direction. Which leaders have been taken off the game board, what targets have been hit in response. News about American casualties.

All of that is changing so fast, it will already be out of date by the time we post it. (But we’re happy to report the downed pilot is alive and being cared for by Kuwaitis.) Instead, we’ll take a look at what’s happening closer to home.

The left, with very few exceptions, have defaulted to the ‘Orange Man Bad’ response they consistently apply to every story, with the same elected officials who cheered the Presidential run of Hillary ‘We Came. We Saw. He Died (laughter)‘ Clinton without the slightest worry about the hand she personally played in turning Libya into a dangerous failed state. She put the laughter in slaughter and her backers said nothing. Suddenly, they’re wringing their hands about the ‘rule of law’ with a country that has been killing Americans on the regular since the 1980s.

The Media is no better, including WaPo whose headline of Dilbert creator Scott Adams was far more hostile than the death of a dictator.

Did they learn nothing after being roasted for calling Bagdadi an ‘Austere Scholar’?

The NYTimes who wrote about his love of poetry was no better.

As for the Iranian people themselves? They divide into two groups — those who hope and pray that the 47 years of Theocratic Islamic regime is at an end, and those who hope it remains.

Those hoping for a return of the Shah, are jubilant at the news that the Arab minority that forcefully colonized Iran with the help of Islamists, Marxists, and protesters in the 1970s who believed the revolution would be an end of tyranny and a new age of wonderful human rights, including celebrated leftist philosopher Foucault are celebrating and grateful for the help they are getting from abroad.

Those who side with the regime are reacting in an altogether different way.

On the positive side:

We have Persians flying the flag that predates Islam’s revolution there dancing in the streets together with Jews. When is the last time you saw Israel and Iran agree on anything? An even more positive sign is he outpouring of support for the losses Americans have taken in the conflict, where expat Persians in Canada have gone en masse to the American consulate, laying flowers in honor of Americans whose lives were lost.

And they’re chanting something much different that what we’re used to hearing.

Notice the blue-and-white flag in the midst of the lion and sun flags.

On the other side, we have pro-regime radicals who have responded to the pro-liberation of Iran message with literal gunfire.

Speaking of gunfire…

The guy who shot up the bar in Texas was wearing a ‘Property of Allah’ hoodie when he opened fire, and was wearing a shirt under it that made reference to Iran. Whether this was the trigger for his act of violence or not, it’s pretty clear which side of that ledger he lands on. FBI is looking into the ‘nexus of terror’ links for Ndiaga Diagne. But initial clues are pretty compelling.

When Pam Bondi was asked about the threat that foreign-born malicious actors might be to Americans, she said that was something she would like to talk about in a classified briefing.

But it was pretty clear, there’s a serious threat out there for anyone willing to face it.

We’ve already had fatwas put out on multiple American citizens, including political officials elected and otherwise. And Salman Rushdie has now outlived two of his would-be killers in Iran.

With the people who poured in through the open border, it’s a good idea to keep your head on a swivel. If there are any sleeper cells biding their time in America, Iran’s regime would now be highly motivated to put them to work.
