POLITICAL CARTOON: Trump Speaking Boldly And Carrying A Big Ax

Albin Sadar's got another political cartoon out -- this one in response to the Iran attacks

To say Trump’s leadership style isn’t like conventional people is a massive understatement. He takes conventional wisdom and either throws it out, or ramps it up to eleven.

Teddy Roosevelt advised people to speak softly but carry a big stick. You can play nice in negotiations, so long as the other side knows you can crack his head open if it comes to fighting.

Joe Biden, in one of a long list of creepy moments in his professional career, once bragged about Obama’s ‘big stick’ in a foreign policy dispute with Romney’s team. Unfortunately, Obama preferred to swing that stick against his domestic enemies. Journalists, grassroots politicians backing the ‘wrong’ cause, Senate staffers spied on by Brennan’s CIA, and of course, the fingerprints Obama and Biden both left all over Crossfire Hurricane.

First-term Trump looked much like the Roosevelt model. He bullied NATO into paying their dues. He inked several peace deals. Even wiped out the Caliphate. But the second time around has a different tone. Hamilton has that line ‘why are you writing like you’re running out of time’. That could just as easily describe how Trump has been leading.

There’s a quote, attributed to Lincoln, saying that if he was given 6 hours to chop down a tree, he would spend the first four hours sharpening his ax. It’s fitting that he is the first GOP president. Because Trump 47 has looked more like a man with an ax than a dude with a stick. He knows what needs to be cut down, and he’s rolled up his sleeves to get ‘er done.

The image first appeared on American Thinker.

One can scarcely look at this image without hearing the words of John the Baptist ‘the ax is laid to the root of the trees that do not bear good fruit’.

Sure, his was a warning to an audience that was about to meet their Messiah. Many of John’s hearers should have recognized Jesus as Lord but saw him instead as a threat to their tidy, comfortable little world. It’s also a reference to the Lord’s own divine imperative to blow the whistle on institutions, kings and, kingdoms. The Lord reserves his right in telling everyone when it’s time to get out of the pool.

He did it with Egypt.

With Baybylon.

And to the succession of empires rising and falling Daniel predicted so accurately that skeptics assume it was written AFTER the fact.

Now, before the pearl-clutchers deny that God could possibly accomplish any of His divine intentions through the use of such an imperfect vessel as Donald J Trump, we point you to scripture itself, where Isaiah, in the context of the same passage where ‘a virgin shall conceive a son’ makes it clear that Assyria was to be a tool in God’s hand to mete divine judgement on Syria and the Northern Kingdom.

If God can use openly wicked pagans in the service of His Plan, surely he can use an imperfect man who has been actively fighting for the rights and freedoms of the Christian faith when people of the party across the aisle have been openly opposing them.
