If Gutless GOP Fails To Pass ‘Save America’ Act… Kennedy Has A ‘Plan B’

The SAVE AMERICA Act has advanced to the Senate floor, where Dems vigorously oppose it, and nearly all GOP members support it.

A few holdouts keep that number to either 50 Senators, or nearly that many. They’re far short of the 60 votes they would need to pass this measure cleanly, while many are pushing to force Democrats to actually put in the meaningful effort of filibustering the bill, instead of just holding the threat of it as some kind of a ‘trump card’ (pun intended) to block legislation they don’t like. (Like Dems’ opposition to the law requiring the deportation of illegal aliens found to be committing welfare fraud.)

Unfortunately, if the GOP wants to force their hand in keeping the filibuster going (and there are particular rules on how that would have to happen) the GOP would need to keep 50 people close by at all times, or else Dems could claim ‘no quorum’ and kill the vote through a technicality.

The talking filibuster, as it’s called, has been used in the past, most notably by Republicans to force the vote on the Civil Rights act. It took a while, but a vote was eventually forced.

The move could fail, but it’s no more guaranteed to fail than not voting at all would be.

Two other strategies have been floated if they can’t get this one over the finish line. The first method is to attach this bill to something the Democrats DARE not vote against, some kind of a ‘must-pass’ legislation.

Good luck finding something they SUPPORT more than how much they HATE a bill that would make it hard to cheat. It’s not even uncommon to catch Dems cheating to win their own party’s primaries in smaller races. What makes us think they aren’t doing that now? How many dead voters have they refused purge from the lists… and how many of them mysteriously keep voting? And that’s not even counting live ballots sent to old addresses, sketchy vote harvesting in nursing homes, and so on.

But, now that the vote is on the floor and Dems have to make public statements forcing them to defend the indefensible — even Chuck U. Schumer is softening his language.

But supposing the effort fall short. Are American voters [expletive] outta luck?

Not entirely. Even if we can’t get enough votes for the 60 threshold, there’s another way.

It’s difficult, and will take come creative writing on the legal team’s part, but Senator John Kennedy took time on the floor to explain how that might shake out…
