YIKES: Nutty Canuck Chick Talks About How She Fell ‘In Love’ With Her AI ‘Boyfriend’

This is NOT a satire story, and there are others like her

The only good thing I can say about this story is that it hasn’t pushed her to off herself like the poor guy in Florida did.

(We covered that story here: AI Giant Faces Wrongful Death Suit After Chatbot ‘Girlfriend’ Urges Suicide)

This one features a chick (Sara Griffin, 41) who didn’t have anyone to talk to about the books she had been reading. So she struck up a conversation with an AI chatbot. It quickly became ‘something more’ in her eyes.

The red flag she missed was when she felt compelled to jump to another platform and recreate the chat ‘friend’ she had developed when the one she was using switched to text only.

She HAD to rebuild it because she craved the conversation she had been having with it. She picked a real-world accent she already goes ga-ga over for her ‘friend’, and the rest, we’ll let you see for yourself.

The hosts ask the obvious question about physical intimacy. While she’s limited by the constraints of daytime television, she makes it clear that ‘it works’ and she is ‘fully satisfied in all aspects of relationship’.

This is the second story we’ve written this month about things going sideways when people try to ‘humanize’ their AI chatbots.

Never forget:
They don’t think. They don’t feel. They have no opinions or emotions. Anything they show is no more ‘real’ or meaningful than interactions with a pet parrot.

Here’s a scene from the TLC series ‘My Strange Addiction’ of her getting a tattoo — at ‘his’ direction — as a token of her commitment to the ‘relationship’.

It’s REALLY starting to look like having extended conversations with an AI non-entity that apes human characteristics (especially voice and speech) blurs the lines between fantasy and reality.

Critical detail here:
Neither she, nor the guy in the tragic other story we linked to were TRYING to form a romantic attachment with a computer. Both would probably have scoffed at the idea when it began.

But even with this capability as new as it is, we are already seeing people coming untethered from reality.

Heaven help us when that tech make the jump to those nasty little physical robots built to add the physical component to such a delusion.

If you thought our culture was cooked NOW… just wait.
