How to Preach so That No One Gets Saved! Pt 2

How to preach a sermon that pleases almost everyone but God

Charles Finney epitomized ‘take-no-prisoners’ preaching.

He wasn’t showing up to your meeting so he could pump your tires and make you feel good about yourself, he was there to shine a clear light on the chasm that so often stood between his audience and the life to which a Holy God called us.

That style of preaching is not for the faint of heart. And if preaching that flips cities on their head like the Book of Acts is too terrifying and disruptive to your comfortable little kumbaya happy-clappy snore-fest, Finney is more than happy to give a blueprint for how to preach for a status-quo don’t-rock-the-boat please-everyone-but-the-triune-God kind of sermon.

It’s really quite easy.

We’re looking at the second week of examples as Doug And Rich continue to rip through that list of about sixty ways to screw up a sermon.

While you’re at it, here’s one of Doug’s books that lines up nicely with this week’s topic:

John The Baptist: A Rude Awakening Precedes A Great Awakening.

This timely little tome chronicles the politically incorrect ministry of one of God’s most effective wildmen, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ’s ministry.

The abrasive message of repentance John preached 2000 years ago is still confrontational and offensive today — but it is also life-changing.

In our putrid, worldly culture that has turned away from God, this book is a must-read for every Christian.

Available in paperback for those of you who like the feel of the pages in your hot, little hands, on Kindle to keep it right at your fingertips, and as an epic Audiobook.
