Author Alice Hoffman wrote, “Be careful what you wish for. I know that for a fact. Wishes are brutal, unforgiving things. They burn your tongue the moment they’re spoken, and you can never take them back.”
In the last few days the country has clearly seen what the 2019 version of the Democrat party stands for and what they wish to foist upon American. It is a wish list full of socialism, identity politics and hate highlighted by a culture of death.
In case you missed it, here’s a look at what today’s Democrats believe is a part of the American
dream.
First, they want to take what’s yours and give it away.
Viktor Reklaitis reports in MarketWatch, “Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is drawing attention for
suggesting that the wealthiest Americans ought to pay a marginal tax rate of as high as 70% in order to fund a “’Green New Deal.’”
The Boston Herald reported that Sen. Elizabeth Warren also has a tax plan. She wants to levy a 2
percent annual tax on savings over $50 million, and an additional 1 percent a year on savings of over a billion dollars.
Senator Kamala Harris reported on her own blog that she and Senator Bernie Sanders will propose
legislation that will make public colleges and universities tuition-free for the vast majority of Americans.
These “stick it to the rich” tax plans and duplicitous offers of free education appeal to some in the Democrat base, but the truth was exposed in by another liberal, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
In a moment of honesty, he called Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s proposal of increasing taxes on the super wealthy “ridiculous” and added “free Medicare for all, government-paid, free college for all — first of all, there’s no free. I mean nothing is free.”
Second, they want to expand the culture of death in the name of individual freedom. New York state has passed, and Virginia has considered, bold new laws to strengthen and expand abortion rights.
Noemie Emery, in The Washington Examiner on February 5, 2019 summed it up succinctly. She wrote,
“In New York, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently signed a bill allowing abortion at the moment of birth, and then ordered a light show to celebrate. in Virginia, Delegate Kathy Tran introduced, Gov. Ralph Northam supported, and the House of Delegates killed a bill that went beyond even that, changing the number of doctors needed to okay a late term abortion from three down to one. It would have also dropped a requirement for nonviability or gross defect in the fetus, or a genuine threat to the life of the mother. A mere case of the mother’s unease would have justified an abortion moments before birth.”
Kenneth Craycraft, in a Cincinnati.com The Enquirer editorial nailed it. He wrote, “it is impossible morally to justify the extent of the New York and proposed Virginia laws. Unplanned or unwanted pregnancies raise difficult and painful questions that everyone must be willing to address by concrete measures. But unlimited abortion of healthy, viable, full or near-full term babies is never the right answer in a civilized country.”
Third, they wish for open borders, despite what how they’ve voted before, because they hate
President Trump.
The Democrats of today don’t like to be labeled as wanting open borders, but the facts are what they are.
Mark Kirkorian, in National Review on November 27, 2018, wrote, “Democratic bigwigs have been
saying that no illegal alien should ever be sent home merely because he snuck into the country or overstayed a visa. Nancy Pelosi in 2013 put it very clearly: ‘If somebody is here without sufficient documentation, that is not reason for deportation.’” Kirkorian notes that both Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders, during the 2016 election, argued the same point.
The Democrats didn’t used to be against our national sovereignty. Their hate for Donald Trump fuels it now.
In 2006, 80 U.S. Senators, including Senator Chuck Schumer, along with Senators Obama, Biden,
Clinton, Bill Nelson, Debbie Stabenow, and many others supported a bill that authorized 700 miles of fencing on our southern border. In the House, 64 Democrats voted for the 700 miles of border fencing, including then Rep. Sherrod Brown. Today, however, they Democrats reject border security and believe a wall to be “immoral.” What’s happened in the decade that passed? Donald Trump became president.
Fourth they want to erase any hint of the Christian faith from the fabric of our society. This is evident in the way the routinely and regularly bash those men and women of faith.
Karen Pence is attacked for her work at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, VA. Vice-President Pence noted, “My wife and I have been in the public eye for quite a while. We’re used to the criticism, but I have to tell you, to see major news organizations attacking Christian education, is deeply offensive to us.”
Judge Amy Coney Barrett was viciously slandered at her confirmation hearing for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. David French in National Review on July 2, 2018 noted, “Why do some progressives single her out for particular scorn? It turns out that she’s a faithful Christian who lives a Christian life very similar to the lives of millions upon millions of her fellow American believers. “Be careful what you wish for…it’s good advice. What today’s Democrats wish for would be disastrous for our country. What Senator Lindsay Graham said in his rant against the Democrats at the Kavanaugh hearing rings true here, too. “Boy, you all want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham.”
