Jake Tapper, now that the election is safely behind him, is suddenly pretending CNN behaves like a news gathering service rather than functioning as part of Joe Biden’s personal PR damage-control team.
Biden’s team had exactly zero interest in playing along with that plan.
CNN’s Evan Perez had been working on a story about how Hunter Biden is now at the center of a criminal investigation involving tax evasion — (which also involves money laundering and an investigation into his relationship with sketchy foreign contacts).
Perez did what reporters of yesteryear once did, and approached a Democrat’s legal team for comment about the investigation… in this case, Hunter Biden.
That was Tuesday, and they assured Perez they would get back to him
That was a lie.
Instead of getting back to him, they robbed him of his scoop by holding a press conference to get ahead of the story.
Jake Tapper was ‘outraged’.
CNN’s @evanperez was working on the story about the US Attorney investigation and reached out to Hunter’s legal team for comment Monday. They spoke on Tuesday and said they would get back to him today.
They didn’t.

He was also a patsy. He helped push the story that this was ‘just’ a tax evasion investigation. Ho-hum, tax fraud, rather than being open to international interference, corruption, and blackmail.

We know why they were silent about this story when it was front-and-center in the weeks leading up to the election.
Tapper shared a CNN report about the investigation on Twitter, which caught Grenell’s attention.
“This story broke in October. You didn’t do it then,” said Grenell, who then asked Tapper point-blank: “Were you instructed to ignore it until after the election?”
CNN did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
Grenell’s question appears to be valid after recordings leaked by Project Veritas last week revealed that CNN president Jeff Zucker and political director David Chalian urged staff back in October not to cover the explosive New York Post report that shed light on Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings overseas.
“Obviously, we’re not going with the New York Post story right now on Hunter Biden,” Chalian is heard saying during a conference call on Oct. 14, the same day The Post published its first Hunter Biden story. –NYPost
