Who Are The Real RINOs?
I was reading the comments on my last article, “How The Party Of Lincoln Lost The Black Vote” and to my surprise I was accused of being a RINO (Republican In Name Only) for daring the Republican Party to take a hard look at why we lost the black vote. RINO was tamed compared to some of the other things I was called. Here are some of my favorite brilliant pieces of intelligent writing from a guy named Cairan, “You GOD D#MNED POS… you invading FLESH EATING BACTERIA? … Anti White RINO troll.”
People like Cairan are destroying our party. Their anger and intellectual immaturity cannot be the face of conservatism and the Republicans, if we are to survive and flourish. I am first and foremost a conservative and have been on the end of Democratic vitriol because of my hard conservative stances. My loyalties lie to the conservative movement and my critique of the Republican Party through my articles is to define true conservatism and to call the Republicans to live up to it. Unlike Carian, I can look in the mirror and see where we have gone wrong.
So somehow, by calling the Republicans to live up to their roots as the party of Lincoln and civil rights and to reject the southern strategy of Nixon has made me a RINO. I decided that it is time to call out the real RINOs and CINOs (Conservatives IN Name Only).
If you are one of the morons who used the word “negro” or “race war” in your comments on my last article, you are a RINO.
If you bemoan the deficit spending of Obama, but remained silent when Bush did it, you are a RINO.
If you had no problem with the fact that a Republican administration botched two wars while exploding the deficit, you are a RINO.
If you think that signing a no tax pledge without a commitment to a balanced budget makes you a conservative, you are a RINO.
If you are one of the idiots going around calling every Republican you disagree with a RINO, you are a RINO.
Finally, if your name is Cairan and you post on this website, you are a RINO.
My call is to my fellow intellectually honest conservatives. It is time that we become the voice and driving force in our movement. We keep nominating the wrong people. We either nominate a person who is scared to be labeled a conservative and can’t articulate what being a conservative is, or we nominate a “conservative” who has the intellectual capacity of a high school student.
We use to be known as the grown up party. We were the ones who stood for fiscal sanity and ideas driven by facts. How have we allowed ourselves to be represented by cowards and morons? We have the winning ideas. We have the ideas that built this country. Why have we entrusted these precious items to those that can scream the loudest. The ability to be controversial is not the qualification to be the bearer of the conservative or Republican message.
I use to be a youth minister. I had a great track record of building youth groups from scratch and I did it by bringing in kids who normally would never attend church. I was once asked what was my secret to getting these kids to come to church. I replied with a questions of my own, “What is your favorite dessert?” He replied, “Cheesecake”. I told him, “That if I grabbed a piece of cheesecake and tried to shove it down your throat, you would reject it, even though you like cheesecake, but if I just offered a piece to you and placed it on the table, you would gobble it up. It is the same with these kids. Deep down, they want God and everything that comes with a relationship with God. They have never rejected God. They have rejected the “messengers” of God and the way the message has been presented. I simply offered God to them and let God be God. I did my best not to poison the message.”
There is nothing wrong with the conservative message. The problem is we have chosen the wrong messengers. You want a real conservative revival, change our messengers and that includes most of the current politicians, pundits and talk show hosts. America has not rejected conservatism. They have rejected the messengers. See what America sees when they look at us. Just read some of the comments on this website and others. Do we really want to be represented by this ilk?
I am not the only one saying this. Conservative Governor Bobby Jindal just last week said, “We’ve got to stop being the stupid party. It’s time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults,” he said. “We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I’m here to say we’ve had enough of that.”
It is time once again for conservatism to be represented by intelligent thinkers and communicators, not by those that feed at the bottom of the barrel like Cairan. We are better than that. Our movement is better than that. Our conservative foundation calls us to be the grown ups in the room. It is time to put the children in our party in the corner.
