HEY PARENTS: Teacher’s Union Makes MAJOR Admission About THEIR Attitude To YOUR Kids

Nonsense like this is why parents are fleeing from public schools

If you think this attitude is unique to a couple of big blue cities, you haven’t been paying attention.

The same people who have shown themselves more interested in keeping schools closed during COVID, or striking to push the latest fad from the Progressive agenda than teaching basic literacy and math skills have thoughts about your kids.

They’ve absorbed the ‘takes a village’ mentality and have deputized themselves as ‘co-parents’.

Every time we turn around we’re seeing a new story about some creepy teacher bumping uglies with an underage student. But we’re supposed to treat them like they’ve got some special privilege as a stakeholder in our kids’ future? Hear the disdain in her voice when she mocks the concerns of parents in this clip:

Stacy Davis Gates, this Teachers’ Union President, thinks kids are ‘their’ children, does she? Let’s take a little look at her Wiki page, remembering those thing tend to skew friendly to lefties:

Davis Gates began her career teaching history in 2004 at Englewood Technical Prep Academy High School, a public school on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. In 2008, the school was closed as part of a series of closures led by the CEO of Chicago Public Schools (CPS), Arne Duncan, Davis Gates attributes this as the moment she was “radicalized.”
[…] In 2018, Jesse Sharkey succeeded Karen Lewis as president and Davis Gates was chosen as Sharkey’s vice president following the recommendation of Lewis.

As Vice President, she oversaw a 14-day strike in 2019, over failures to reach a contract. The majority of her time as vice president was characterized by the COVID-19 pandemic; in April 2020, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker closed all schools to in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. In October of that year CPS announced a plan to return to in-person instruction, which Davis Gates and the CTU opposed. Chicago Public Schools returned to in-person instruction in January 2021, despite concerns of the union and discussions of a potential strike from Davis Gates. In January 2022, the CTU went on a 5-day work-stoppage over safety concerns following a rise in COVID-19 cases.

Because nothing says ‘I deserve the trust of people overseeing the lives of children’ quite like the admission that you are a political zealot. She pushed a 14-day strike in 2019, followed by opposition to in-person instruction.

Translation: the lifelong learning loss that an entire cohort of COVID kids might never recover from was personally exascerbated by this woman who claims a right to your kids.

And if you think she’s an outlier? You have NOT been paying attention.
