Hey Blinken: Does Taking CREDIT for Gaza Mean You’ll Take BLAME For Afghanistan, Too?

He rushed to take credit for the peace deal in Gaza, even as Afghani/Pakistani conflict sparked to life

Blaming others for your mistakes and taking credit for the success of others? That’s perfectly on-brand for the Biden White House. And here comes Blinken to show us how it’s done.

Some folks just can’t bear to hear the names of their successors praised without looking for ways to bask in their glory. After eight years of blaiming Bush for every problem Obama faced, Dems were hard at work taking credit for the good news that came out of Trump’s policies.

Of course, when Biden took over and cranked up inflation — that was Trump’s fault. Even though it somehow vanished when new management came along with new and better policies of slashing red tape and barriers to innovation.

We’re seeing the same dynamic play out with foreign policy. The same cabal of government insiders that buried the story of Biden’s corruption while he was still veep, buried the administration’s embarrassing failures as Biden reenacted the Fall of Saigon in Kabul before he finished even 2/3 of his first year after inauguration. What they knew and what they were told are NOT the same. It’s not until Trump put new people in charge that we’re beginning to find out the degree to which we were lied to in both areas.

The juxtaposition of events couldn’t be more poetic as he tried to take credit for the Peace Deal in Gaza.

He put out a long and labored tweet thread explaining how, when you get right down to it, HE and the Biden administration really did the hard work of making this peace deal happen. (Forget about what everyone else in the meeting said about Trump being the wheeler-and-dealer that brought everyone together despite their radically diverse interests, and how Trump was able to convince Egypt and Qatar to announce that they were done with Hamas and their endless conflicts, putting meaningful pressure on Hamas to come to terms of peace with their hated rival.)

Even as the West was counting down the hours to those first videos of hostages returning home, news was breaking out in another corner of the East. Skirmishes broke out in the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.

Remember how the Biden administration rushed their exit from Kabul, leaving behind dizzying amounts of military equipment and materiel in the process? Well, the Taliban that took over when Biden let the government collapse has been (and has featured American arms and vehicles in their parades as they celebrate Biden’s humiliating defeat) have been put to use against their neighbors in Pakistan.

Just this weekend, this simmering conflict returned to a full boil.

If Biden’s cabinet is in a hurry to take credit for wins that nobody seriously thinks that had any role in… shouldn’t they have to take the BLAME when their fingerprints can be found ALL OVER their losses, like the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan?
