Cartel Conflict Heats Up After Mayor Gets Murdered… White House Considers Direct Strikes
With hundreds of thousands killed by fentanyl alone, the killing has been going on for a long time

One Mexican mayor tried to live up to his promises to reign in the gangs. And the cartels murdered him for it. If Mexico’s own leaders can’t deal with cartels that have long since declared war on Americans, there are other options.
The 3 most recent years for which we’ve got hard data put yearly deaths from fentanyl poisoning at about 72000 each year. That’s almost 200 people each and every day killed by fentanyl alone. For scale, each year, you could fill Levis’ Stadium with the dead and have a small town of others without anywhere to ‘sit’. And that’s just the fentanyl.
Last week, a mayor who wanted to DO something about it was killed.
Carlos Manzo was famous in Mexico for saying what few other politicians would: That cartels operated with impunity and needed to be confronted with brute force. The mayor of a city in an avocado-growing region beset by crime and violence, Manzo suggested authorities should beat criminals into submission — or simply kill them.
It was a provocative message that resonated in some sectors of a country long afflicted by drug war bloodshed. Many here viewed Manzo, with his trademark white cowboy hat, as a hero.
But his iron fist rhetoric and criticism of the federal government’s security strategy also earned him enemies. Manzo acknowledged as much, saying he knew he could be targeted by organized crime. “I don’t want to be just another murdered mayor,” he said last month. “But it is important not to let fear control us.” —LATimes
His death triggered a local riot.

NBC News now reports that Trump is about ready to make good on an ultimatum he made with Mexico’s President during his first term in office: if you don’t handle it, we’ll designate them as terrorists and take out the trash ourselves.
We’ve already taken the steps to name cartels as terror organizations. That ball got rolling on Day One.
With the immediate threat of securing the border already addressed, we’re now looking at the next logical step in removing the threat. We’ve been smashing drug boats to atoms, along with most anyone foolish enough to be in them. Next, we’re looking at the infrastructure of the cartels.
With the kind of body count that fills stadiums every year, the days of high-risk arrests are over.
Cartels spent the Biden years raking in cash hand over fist and upgrading their equipment to rival a small modern military, Trump sees them as a threat to be neutralized, not as bad guys to be arrested.
Either Mexico’s President will take action on the ‘bad hombres’ who keep killing mayors.
Or Trump will turn Hegseth’s crew loose on them and solve the problem ourselves.
Simple choice.
