On Katie Wilson, Seattle’s Mayor-Elect

Katie Wilson. Seattle’s newly elected mayor and a Democrat/Democrat Socialist. And like Zohran Mamdani, she plans to impose socialism upon Seattle. But who is Katie Wilson anyway?

Katie Wilson was born on July 12, 1982 in Binghamton, New York. Her parents were David Sloan Wilson and Anne Barrett Clark, both of whom are evolutionary biologists. She graduated from Binghamton High School in 2000, and went on to attend Balliol College of Oxford. However, she dropped out of college in 2004 and
moved to Seattle with her boyfriend Scott Meyers (where they later got married). She then worked several jobs before co-founding the Seattle Transit Riders Union (TRU) in 2011.

In 2020, she helped establish a JumpStart Tax in Seattle, which is a payroll tax on private employers to help fund affordable housing.

This year, she ran for mayor with an emphasis on housing, homelessness, and protecting Seattle from federal action (i.e. opposing ICE). She went on to unseat the incumbent Bruce Harrell.

Wilson plans to implement a Solidarity Budget, in which the Seattle Police Department will be cut by 50%.

No doubt crime will skyrocket in Seattle during her administration. Like her fellow Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani, Wilson wants to establish government-owned grocery stores (as well as forbidding private ones from closing on the grounds that they should not be selling food to only those who can afford
it) and will require grocery chains in Seattle to give 90-day notices for massive layoffs and fair severance packages for those they do lay off.

She also wants to increase taxes on the wealthy, which will most likely result in many people leaving Seattle.

Wilson will also appoint a significant amount of people who are black, indigenous, Hispanic, Latinx (never mind the fact that term was a flash in the pan) Asian, and LGBTQ in the name of equity. Thus, DEI will be a factor when it comes to working for the city.

In regards to housing, Wilson wants it to be social, with land and wealth being owned and managed by the community instead of a corporation.

It should be noted that Wilson credits her parents in being elected mayor, saying they send her a check periodically to cover her childcare expenses (she has one daughter), particularly daycare. However, she claims she doesn’t keep track on how much money they actually send her, except they do so every few months.
Something sounds fishy there.

At any rate, it’s safe to say Wilson will run Seattle into the ground with her socialist policies.
