FETTERMAN: Reminding His Party He Represents ALL Constituents In His Purple State, Not Just Dems

When this guy ran for office after suffering his stroke, we SERIOUSLY underestimated him

When’s the last time you heard a Senator talking about representing the interests of his particular state — regardless of party affiliation — and not the rubber-stamp of party affiliation?

You never hear Dems breaking party discipline to put their regional interests ahead of the party line. Even among Republicans, who have nowhere near the rigid party discipline of the Chuck Schumer Dems, you hardly hear people talk like this.

Sure, it probably had somethng to do with being from a ‘purple’ state, but looking at the number of times he finds himself getting heat from both activists and establishment class in his own party, he’s been putting his money where his mouth is.

The interesting thing about this clip is that it highlights how the 17th Amendment condemned Senate races to the same crass cynical donor-driven circus-fare we see in presidential races, where party brass and donors in distant states control the purse-strings and the interests of the state you supposedly represent are quite forgotten. Blue coast fundraisers pump tens of millions into races in places like Georgia so that Kamala can (for instance) hold that all-important tie-breaking senate vote, regardless of whether they believe Ossoff and Warnock (continuing the same example) actually represent the general will of Georgia voters.

Fetterman, at least, is doing the job he was elected to do — represent the collective will of the people who sent him.

Even if that does mean (in many of the important votes) his voting record is mostly the same as any other Democrat.
