If Guys In Girls’ Locker Rooms Are No Big Deal… Why Was THIS Teacher Fired?

So, one AZ teacher lets a bullied boy use her washroom, and gets fired, while over in Louden County, the entire school system marches lockstep when a boy in a skirt assaults two different victims in two different schools.

In Yuma, one male student was being bullied by his peers. He was the only guy in the cheer squad and he was being bullied over his sexuality. He wasn’t handling it well, apparently. There were threats of violence, and he was given dispensation by one teacher to use the bathroom connected to her office.

That washroom, in turn, was connected to the girls’ locker room.

They were different spaces, but there was a potential for access. Available reporting makes no mention of the student taking any advantage of that access. But a concerned parent complained and there was an investigation. The investigation ended in the teacher being fired.

A Yuma-area teacher who said she was fired after protecting a student from bullies will keep her teaching credentials under a settlement with the State Board of Education.

Alyssa Plaza was terminated from her job at Somerton High School in the Yuma Union High School District in April 2025. The decision from the school board came after Plaza let a boy enter her office — which was connected to the girls’ locker room — to avoid bullies.

Plaza worked as a cheer coach and physical education teacher. She said she was ultimately terminated for what the district described as letting a male into the girls’ locker room. Eric Patten, a spokesperson with the district, declined to comment on the reason for Plaza’s termination. — AZCentral

So a kid (who we might reasonably assume to be gay) was using a private washroom because he was afraid of getting beat up. There is no evidence of him violating the girls’ changing areas. And it was seen as a serious enough ethical breach that a teacher lost her job over it.

Let’s think this logic through. Because it has real implications in the latest round of the culture war the activist left keeps shoving down our throats.

The possibility of a self-described male student — with what is likely zero sexual interest in the female students — having ready access to enter into a shared space with vulnerable students in various states of undress was enough to cost a teacher her job.

Meanwhile, there is ample evidence that a great many of the self-described male-to-female transsexual demographic are extremely interested in the female body, and for a non-zero percentage of such cases, getting access to a space that is built for the purpose of excluding men for the modesty and safety of women is itself a source of sexual excitement. Concerned parents are not only permitted to object to the (presumably) gay kid getting access to a private washroom so he won’t fear getting beat up in the bathroom.

But students or parents daring to raise similar concerns about an exposed penis or the lingering gaze of someone who might look on them with sexual desire, and the potentially dangerous situation that has created for other students in the past is somehow a VERBOTEN subject.

How, exactly, are we all supposed to square that circle?
