Canada Talks Tough On Trade… But Reality Tells A Different Story

While countries like Denmark are looking for trade solutions where everyone comes out a winner, Canada is one of the few that keeps raising the temperature.

The talk is tough, but their leadership’s obstinance is taking a toll. And it’s not like Prime Minister Three Passports, with most of his wealth (and family) in the US will pay anything like a serious price anyway.

They’re even telling themselves that Trump’s planning to invade Canada, but the Canucks will be ‘ready’.

I don’t know how to break it to them, but our friends up North couldn’t repel the Cajun Navy, let alone our paid troops. But that doesn’t stop the tough talk by Carney or his cheerleaders in the press pool clown car from spinning yarns so ridiculous that you might almost mistake MSNBC as serious reporters, by comparison.

The Loonie is sinking like a stone against the greenback.

As for the economies themselves? Even NPR ran a headline that read: August job numbers far exceed economists’ expectations (Must have near killed them to report that, too.)

Stats Canada had jobs numbers going he other way North of the border. “Sep 4, 2026 — Employment declined by 42000 (-0.2%) in August and the employment rate fell 0.1 percentage points”

When Carney makes wild claims about how they will soldier on without access to US markets, it’s mostly empty bluster. But when Trump says Canada will have no choice but to cave and come back to the negotiating table, in an even weaker position than when Carney started peacocking with his ‘elbows up’?

He’s got a growing amount of evidence on his side backing him up.

This is what happens when a leader cares more about ‘moral victories’ and posturing to motivate the base (as Carney did with Liberal voters in Canada to strengthen his majority with some by-electios) more than you care about the actual success or failure of the individual citizens whose little lives make the country run in the first place.

If Trump turns out to be right, and the end result on Carney’s side is total capitulation with an even weaker hand than what he started with, what’s the point of Carney putting Canada through months of financial turmoil where even the poorest of these United States of America has a more favourable GDP than the entire country Carney’s been running into the ground?
