The mid-terms are here, for all practical purposes. No matter what happens either way, we’ll get through the aftermath. Point is, though, we need to prepare for what comes after the mid-terms. We, as well as conservatism and the country as a whole, will survive.
If we lose control of Congress, and even several of the “down ticket” races, we still have options. I’ve written before regarding the nation splitting between red and blue (“Fragmented Nation: Is Now The Time To Break Up The Union?”) as far back as November of 2020. In spite of President Trump’s second term successes, we’re still anything but unified. But I don’t think we’re to the point of splitting just yet. Thus, we have to look at the option we hope we won’t have to face.
We know if the Demsheviks take over, the first agenda item will be impeaching Trump…again. They couldn’t make anything stick before, but we all know they’ll try again, because they’ve told us.
Personally, I don’t think a third impeachment attempt would win. However, it would literally hamstring the President’s effectiveness for the remainder of his term; use up a lot of resources in time and money; and just ultimately divide us further. And you know, once Trump is out of office, they’ll still attempt to go after him.
I believe President Trump will ultimately survive. At that point, here is an option to consider. Part of the definition of survival is to “continue to exist, to live and/or avoid destruction”.
The best way to do this is to look at the military concept of what it means to withdraw. When a military unit withdraws from a combat engagement, it’s because it’s planned in an orderly fashion; it’s usually voluntary because of the realization the current situation is not favorable; and it’s meant to conserve men, material, and information. It’s therefore an administrative decision designed to regroup, rearm, and re-strategize. It’s survival to fight on.
A retreat, by comparison, is what is forced by the enemy. It’s done under pressure; it’s usually chaotic and disorganized; and usually done in such a way that valuable resources are either abandoned or squandered. It’s taken as a loss without thought of coming back.
That’s what the Demsheviks want. Look at Europe right now. They want that chaos here. This is a view of the other option…completely loss of the country and our entire way of life.
Let’s look at the spiritual equivalent of withdrawing for the sake of survival.
In Matthew chapter 10, Christ gave instructions to His disciples as He sent them out to preach the gospel to the children of Israel. (More on this fact later…) In v. 14 He says:
“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.”
These instructions from Christ are also found in Mark 6:11; Luke 9:15; and shown in actual use in Acts 13:50-51. To break it down to colloquial terms, Christ is saying don’t waste your time with those who don’t want to hear the truth.
This is why He sent them out to the Jews first. These were the people who had learned from Moses and the prophets. These were the people who should have recognized Jesus as The Christ. Many had heard Him speak and saw the miracles He performed. Yet many still rejected Him. They were blind to what was right in front of them.
Our current political scenario is so much like this. A good portion of our country knows exactly what they have here, but choose either indifference or rejection. These are the people whom, it’s sad to say, we can no longer squander our time with. They’ve proven they’re not worth our efforts and resources.
Either way the mid-terms go, we will to some extent still have to tactically withdraw and regroup. This is where we focus on what we have and who we have with us.
This is where we’re conservative Americans first. It means our very survival.
