That’s Right, Boys: Guns Make Women Feel Safer

Sorry guys, no need to be jealous of Mr. Smith, Mr. Wesson, Mr. Ruger, Mr. Sig and Mr. Sauer. They’re all here to help bring your lovely wife, daughter, and mother back home to you in one beautiful piece. Here’s a real world example. My wife and fifteen-year-old daughter stopped by our business one night after a church meeting. My wife noticed a suspicious car in the parking lot. It disappeared when she wasn’t looking. She didn’t see anyone from the safety of the building, but fear had set in. My daughter started tweeting her friends and my wife called me. She wanted me to come and escort them safely to their car. I was disposed with our other children, cooking them dinner, and doing some laundry. Yeah, I’m like that.

I told her to grab the flashlight, and they’d be fine, it’s not a bad neighborhood. I thought she might be over-reacting. My wife disagreed. She told me explicitly to get my Mr. Mom-behind down there and protect them, ASAP. I sensed her mind was made up. I was going, man, to the rescue. Then I suggested, hey honey, my pistol is in the drawer. You have your permit, you could take that? She only thought for a moment, and I was replaced by Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson. They escorted my wife and daughter safely to their car, and I got to stay at home on the couch, I mean, scrubbing the floor.

The power of a well-armed woman is that they are fully equipped to not be victimized, no matter their size. The sad irony of it is that men are just a little less needed. The truth is that Mr. Sig might be a little more reliable than many of us men. Facts are facts; she doesn’t have to be a gun-nut, an unaccompanied woman just feels better with a firearm in her purse, pocket or hand. Who doesn’t?
