BIBLICAL BRAWL: Jesus Christ V. Kirsten Powers on Gay Marriage
Dear Kirsten Powers-
This “Jesus” whom you say you love and serve said the following about what constitutes a marriage in His eyes. Check it out…
“Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.
The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
– Matthew 19:1-6
Please note that:
1. God made them male and female, not male and male. Just an FYI. Also, he didn’t give his take on marriage an expiration date. Y’know, like the 21st century. Just another FYI.
2. It is this ‘male-female’ thingy that according to Jesus (for what that’s worth) is what, and I quote, “God has joined together”. God joins together male and female. Again, and I’ll say it real sloooow, Jesus said, “God joins together male and female.” I know it’s not trendy but that’s what old stick-in-the-mud Jesus had to say.
So, in light of the aforementioned, tell me more about homosexual marriages and Jesus possibly being cool with a re-invention of this biblical maxim. I’m all ears.
Cheers,
Doug Giles
