TAVIS SMILEY?: ‘No Good Reason to Vote If You’re Black’

There may be an historic Republican Election Day sweep on November 4th and perhaps a black leader may have been the one to give it life.  According to Real Clear Politics black media liberal heavyweight Tavis Smiley, stressed on ABC News Sunday’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos,  that there was  “- No Good Reason To Vote  ‘If You’re Black Or Brown, Other Than Helping To Save The Democrats’ Hide,’” This had to send shockwaves throughout black communities in urban areas all over the nation.

After all, Democrats have been counting on the black vote to put their candidates over the top in elections ever since 1960, so what has happened that has left these voters feeling there is no reason to vote.  For many, it was one thing to vote for the first black president or to keep that president in office.  It is quite another thing to vote to keep Democrats in office when all they have to do is look around their neighborhood or city and see the piles of false promises that have never been delivered on.

Smiley targeted the lack of enthusiasm in the black community for coming to the polls on Election Day by explaining, that issues like a living wage have been more smoke and mirrors than real substance. He emphasized that the “slogan’ that it could have been worse’ is not a winning slogan.”

To make his point, Smiley pointed to a Sunday New York Times article which focused on how the Democrats were putting a lot of their political marbles on the black vote turning up in the voting booths.  He then stressed, “News flash: if you’re relying on the black vote, in a midterm election — and I’m not suggesting that black voters don’t care about this — but if you’re relying on that vote, then I think it’s uninspired because we have double- and triple-digit unemployment in the African American community,” according to Real Clear Politics.

Finally reality seems to be dawning on what has been over sixty years of plantation voting slavery in the black community.  This past weekend dozens of blacks left their seats at a Maryland campaign rally, even as President Obama was speaking.  Apparently the luster of his presidency has worn off on them and the reality of escalating crime and joblessness in the black community on his watch has dawned upon them.

Smiley asked the panel to give him three good reasons for blacks to turn out and vote.  The panelists could not give one single reason for black voters to defy logic and come to the polls to elect or retain Democrats in office.  He ended his comments by stating: “Now I’ll catch hell for saying that.”  Actually, in the end, Smiley’s comments might be the launch from Democrat slavery that black voters needed to finally loose those shackles.  It’s been a long time in coming.

So on election day do not be too surprised when the ever obedient black vote the Democrats have always kept in their back pocket decides that, this time around, they are going to agree with a liberal black leader who speaks the truth.  This time they may decide in droves to not save the Democrats’ hide!
