A Bad Gamble; Still, We Shall Overcome

If I were a gambling man, I would have lost my shirt wagering Mitt Romney would have won the 2012 Presidential election.  His loss sent a sickening feeling across this divided nation and has created deep discussion. Conversations have ranged from what the Republican Party could have done differently to where our nation may be headed in the next four years.  Some may say Obama’s re-election is God’s permissive will.

Romans 13:1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

The majority of the people have elected a President for self-serving principals and greed not being able to acknowledge the outcome.  Is it Gods will that as a nation we may be facing the most economically depressed times of our lives?  One can only anticipate sky rocketing energy prices.  There should be no question that all fossil-fuels will increase which will have a direct effect on residential and business heating and cooling costs.  Indirectly, the rates of food products and transportation of those food products will see an increase.   Will all the government entitlements be able to keep up with hyper-inflation generated by quantitative easing?  How many cans of beans can be bought for twenty dollars or higher by the welfare recipient holding food stamps?  Most who voted for Obama will discover in the next four years that this broken government cannot continue to support the ever increasing number of benefactors.

Many companies will continue not to hire new employees and be forced to cut their payroll due to new EPA rules and regulations being implemented and the overwhelming cost of Obamacare.   Less people working equates to less taxes gathered by the government and a much greater demand for more entitlements.  If this government actually believes it can rape the wealthiest in this nation, which are the job providers, through taxation, and continue successfully down this path, I have a news flash for them. It will not happen without an outcry from all citizens.

Will this administration continue with its unwritten open-border policy which continues to be an encumbrance on the system? Will our military become so weak that our nation is at risk of being attacked by outside forces? Will what used to be illegal drugs become legal?  Will Conservative and Christian radio and television be removed from broadcast?  Will our Constitution be trashed all together?  One must ask these questions because, at least one point in time, this President and his administration have shown the desire to entertain these thoughts.

This nation is a Christian nation yet it is divided.  I pray for this nation to become once again a God fearing nation that embraces Christianity as a whole.  We have seen our government evade and diminish the Word of God.  After this administration, I have faith our great nation will be resurrected!

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” Ephesians 6:12
