Needed Now: A Roman Catholic Revival

421px-Bartolomé_Esteban_Murillo_-_St_Francis_of_Assisi_at_PrayerBy a strange turn of history, the survival of freedom in the U.S.A. may depend upon a revival of the Roman Catholic Church here. If one accepts the premise that liberty depends upon the preservation of Christian values and morality, then America may only be saved by a Catholic renewal.

Politicians who control the liberal Democrat majority are dedicated to bigger government, more control and less freedom. Democrat politicians are rapidly working to dismantle our basic rights. Without the rights to free speech, free expression of religious faith and the freedom to defend ourselves, all other liberties will crumble. But, the Democrat majority is only made possible by joining together a coalition of different groups including Blacks, Hispanics and organized labor.

Socialists, dedicated to dismantling our constitution and liberties, are a small minority in the Democrat Party, though they are a majority of the political class. The coalition of minorities that the Democrats have pulled together consists of generally low information voters, unaware of the real goals of their politicians.

Democrats, aided by their collaborators in the media and Hollywood have successfully demonized Republicans as the enemy of these groups. This is true, in spite of the fact that conservative policies would be more beneficial to these groups and conservative values more accurately parallel the values of most of these group members.

The Democrat party is the party of gay marriage, abortion and forcing their church to violate its principles. Blacks and Hispanics are overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage. Hispanics are overwhelmingly pro-life. Most Blacks would be furious if they honestly understood what Democrat rule has done to them. The Democrat welfare state has destroyed the Black family and the Democrat party has enabled the extermination of the Black future generations (Black children are disproportionally aborted and victimized by violent crime in Democrat controlled cities). Hispanics are dedicated to their Roman Catholic faith and their families. The Democrat party politicians are dedicated to destroying both institutions.

Hispanics are the fastest growing segment of our population. They are the only group that is not killing their children. The political movement that can capture the Hispanic vote will hold power in the future.

I believe that conservative leaders need to jettison the Republican Party for two reasons. One, the party leadership has tilted to Democrat-lite and wants to abandon the very principles that guarantee our liberty. And two, the Republican reputation among Blacks and Hispanics may be damaged beyond repair.

Conservative leaders who are serious about saving our republic need to reach out especially to Hispanics. We can start with an immigration policy such as proposed by Senator Rubio which guarantees our national security without harming Hispanic families and providing them with opportunity. A drug policy that focuses on demand instead of suppliers would go a long way toward stabilizing Mexico and stemming the flood of immigration (Mexico is ruled by drug cartels because Americans buy drugs; there will always be suppliers when the demand is there). Conservative schools and think tanks need to send teachers into the Hispanic community. Scholarships should be offered to promising conservative Hispanics. The money would be better spent than on campaign contributions to John Boehner.

It was discouraging to see that in the last election, a majority of Catholics voted Democrat in spite of the efforts of Catholic leaders like Bishop Dolan to alert parishioners to the danger presented by the current Democrat administration. The Bishop clearly understands that the Catholic Church is under attack and our failure to fight may result in a permanent loss of religious freedom. Yet, the warnings fell on deaf ears. Too many rank and file Catholics are guided more by popular culture than by religious principles.

There needs to be a revival in the Catholic Church. The priesthood has clearly lost respect from many of the faithful. A revival will require leadership and teaching. Parishioners need to be informed that their freedom is at stake. The Bishops should start by cleaning house in the priesthood. Get the gay, atheist, communist priests out! Many Catholic seminaries are hotbeds of homosexuality and socialism. Feed the sheep; root out the wolves.
