Gun Control Vote: This Time Barack “I Won” Obama Lost

Not for nothing, but is the guy who promised to “reduce the deficit 50% by the end of his first term” accusing the NRA of lying? And what about his own “pattern of spreading untruths [to] serve a purpose“? Doesn’t Obama say things like “I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration“, and “the health care package will pay for itself“?

A visibly irate President also claimed that the senate rejection of the bill “came down to politics.” Again, wasn’t it Obama, in those initial stages of the stimulus powwow, who said that all politicians are “political animals“?

Just as Barack Obama is well aware that our border isn’t secure but swears it is, he also knows that building a federal registry that would identify every gun owner in America is the bill’s ultimate goal. Moreover, to further his push for stricter gun legislation wasn’t the president “serving a purpose” by flying Sandy Hook families to Washington DC aboard Air Force One? Come to think of it, everything Obama does is meant to “serve a purpose.”

In Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals playbook, tactic #12 tells activists to “pick a target,” and then “freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy.” The problem for community organizer Obama is that since he applied those principles to the NRA, the group he was determined to denigrate grew by another quarter-million members. Therefore, based on the Senate’s thumbs-down vote, the tactic that has worked so well for Obama in the past has backfired miserably this time around.

After getting his way by inflicting what Max Baucus (D-Montana) called Obama’s signature healthcare reform “train wreck” on America, destroying the economy, expanding entitlement programs, gutting the military, punishing the rich, burdening the middle class, and promising to legalize 30 million border-crashers, Obama still won reelection in 2012. That victory apparently convinced the president he could proceed unhindered. Until now. Barack Obama may have won reelection, but on the gun control issue, he lost.
