An Alternative View: Re-evaluating Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied the headlines since Russia inserted troops into the Crimean Peninsula of the Ukraine. In the western press there has been almost universal condemnation.

I was as uninformed about the goings on in the Ukraine as most Americans. But, having been convinced not to trust anything that the current U.S. government or their dutiful lapdogs in the press are telling us, I decided to do as much independent research as I could. The Centre for Research on Globalization, based in Canada, provides information on the Ukraine that you will never hear in the U.S.

Remember the heralded “Arab Spring”? Our Muslim Brotherhood President and his echo chamber in the broadcast media hailed it as a glorious expression of democracy. Honest people will now admit that if there ever were any democracy advocates in the crowd, they were soon overwhelmed by the Islamic jihadists. The same folks who assured us that the “Arab Spring” was a democratic movement are now telling us that the rebellion in the Ukraine is also a democratic movement. Forgive me, but I’m skeptical. You should be as well.

A little research beyond the mainstream U.S. press reveals that Ukraine is a deeply divided and fractured land. Significant portions of the population, especially in the Crimea, are ethnic Russians and understandably committed to Mother Russia. The majority of Ukrainians hold on to long standing mistrust and even hatred toward Russia. Under Stalin, millions of Ukrainians were “eliminated.”The anti-Russian Ukrainians desire closer ties to Europe and the EU.

There exists a group of Ukrainians who are Neo-Nazis. They even have their own political party called Svoboda which holds 36 seats in parliament. These Neo-Nazis identify with Ukrainian Nazi supporters from World War II. The Neo-Nazis are the violent protestors of the current rebellion. Like all good Nazis, they are enthusiastically anti-Semitic. Global Research reports that, “The Obama administration is working to help install a neo-fascist leader and his party as key players in the future of the Ukraine.”

There is evidence of early U.S. intervention in Ukrainian politics last year in violation of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. John McCain, a not so stealthy Obama tool, was in the Ukraine last December encouraging the protestors and meeting with the Neo-Nazi leaders.

There is a You Tube video of a CIA agent being arrested with Kiev protestors. I posted the video on Face Book, but it was deleted within minutes. The administration’s corporate defenders and/ or the NSA are hard at work to make sure you don’t know what is really going on over there. At this point, all that we know is that the only duly elected government in the Ukraine has been overthrown and it wasn’t done by Putin. There are vast oil reserves in the Ukraine and, more than likely, what is going on over there has more to do with competition between Russia and the west for those resources. I suspect that neither side is innocent.

The party line on Putin is that he is an oppressive dictator. Frankly, I would say the same about Obama. Doing an online search for “oppression and Russia,” I discovered this most damaging article from the Washington Post which claims,

For the most part, though, the story of the past decade has been one of ever-tightening restriction on political activity and expression. As Freedom House noted recently, Russia’s past year was marked by “electoral abuses, declining religious freedom, greater state controls over the presentation of history, growing police corruption, and the repeated use of political terror against victims including human rights activists and journalists.”

The Post leads with an account of a man arrested for flag waving without a permit! My goodness, we certainly have nothing like that happening in the good old U.S. of A.! I’m glad that we don’t have election fraud here (Cleveland, Battleground Texas). And our government would never trample on anyone’s religious freedom (Little Sisters of the Poor/ Hobby Lobby). Our government would never engage in revisionist history in our public schools. Of course, our police are above reproach. Finally, our government would never terrorize journalists (Rosen). And of course, Obama would never use the power of the government to harass his political opposition (IRS). Our government would never stock up on ammunition to use on its own people. No, our government works with churches to help people.

Last year, Putin was criticized by Obama and his media lap dogs for harboring NSA fugitive/ whistleblower Edward Snowden. Frankly, I believe that Snowden wouldn’t be able to talk about it today had Putin sent him home. To me, Snowden is a hero for alerting us about the level of spying that our government is doing on all of us. Thank you, President Putin for protecting this brave patriot whistleblower.

In advance of the winter Olympics in Sochi, Putin was regularly criticized by the western media as being “anti-gay”. Practically every story was peppered with some reference to Russia’s supposed ant-gay ordinance. The uninformed might have thought that being “gay” was illegal in Russia. Nothing of the sort is true. The truth is that the Russian parliament passed a law prohibiting the distribution of gay literature to children. The Russians don’t think that it is appropriate for Sodomites to be proselytizing children! My God, what oppression! Personally I’ll stand with the Russians on this one. I wonder what God thinks about Sodomites recruiting children.

Is Putin a Christian? Is that why the western press hates him? I’m sure the bare-chested pictures showing his cross just annoy them to death. Fox News even reported about Putin’s close ties with the Russian Orthodox Church. Putin is not shy about saying that the church should have a greater influence over people’s lives.

Surely, in the minds of western journalists, Putin must be akin to the Taliban. In fact, Putin recently had the audacity to accuse America of turning away from Christian values. Just because we glorify sodomy, adultery and child murder, does that mean that we’ve turned away from Christ? Jesus would never judge us for that. Would He? Just because our televisions are filled with images of Miley Cyrus masturbating on a pole, that doesn’t make us evil. Jesus understands.

Just in case anyone is thinking I’m a traitor, let me assure you, I love America. I love the America that I was born in and that I served in the USAF. But, I took an oath to preserve it from enemies, both foreign and domestic. To my knowledge, I have not been released from that oath and today I am wondering if there is too much emphasis on some fake foreign enemy while the real danger lies right here at home.

I don’t think Putin to be some kind of hero. He’s probably just as corrupt as the next politician. But, consider this: Is God obligated to always side with or bless America? I think not. What does God think about a nation that passes a law prohibiting Sodomites from recruiting children? What does He think about a nation that glorifies sodomy? I think there is some biblical history on this matter.
